Forums - Microsoft - Top 5 Xbox 360 Games PS3 Fanboys Wish They Had

@ starcraft

Fable 2 may be interesting, haven't played the first one. Mass Effect, maybe without its issues on the 360. Dead Rising, I liked the demo on the 360 but not enough to buy it.

My favourite for a PS3 version would be Kameo, IMO an awesome game.

If I were a PS3/SONY fanboy, the only game that I would be interested in from that list would be Fable 2 because I'm not a big shooter/sci-fi/zombie fan. I do respect the games in that list in its respective rights. But as a gamer, the only game that I would be interested in from that list would be Fable 2 because... I'm not a big shooter/sci-fi/zombie fan. Hmmm...

If your not a big shooter fan, then you shouldn't own a PS3, imo. Also, if you are a RPG fan then the 360 is the console for you also, lol.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I would like halo3 on the PS3, i've beaten the game 5-6 times and played maybe 6 hours of it online. Its one of the most fun games i have played this gen. I love the series so much i have each Halo game and i don't even own an xbox or a 360. Gears i would buy at $20, and the other games i have no interest in.

Well, it's like this. This mythos around Halo 3 has formed from marginalization that the game sucks. It actually does not suck. It's quite fun.

A. The game is over-rated.

B. CoD4 blows it out of the water.

C. Yahtzee's review is scathing and marginalizing.

D. There is a stigma that the single player campaign is short(It's about 10-13 hours, long for a shooter)

E. There is a rumor than it's an online shooter only.

In the end though, Halo 3 is better than any other FPS on the PS3 besides CoD4. Bioshock is better than Halo 3 but it's not on the PS3 yet. Halo 3 is much better than the really good FPA The Darkness, and F.E.A.R. on the PS3 sucks compared to the other versions.

The fact is, the single player is fun and filled with replay value.

It is also the best 2 player split screen shooter, period, since it has co-op play, and really ourperforms CoD4 in 1v1(due to CoD4's shallow life pool even at double health), though lacks the team mechanic that makes that games multiplayer so famously good.

So yeah, don't believe everything you read. Halo 3 is certainly over-rated, but it's still a AAA shooter, and you most definitely should want to play it if you never have. End of story.

Also, Gears of War...is godaweful. Fable 1 is much better imo.

My most anticipated 360 game is Alan Wake, and if you all saw the trailer it would be at the top of your list as well.

I've never seen a PS3 only owner (or Fanboy) put much emphasis on Fable 2, so that's wishful thinking. They'll never admit they want Halo3 and probably hate it more than want it, but I'd say Dead Rising, Gears and ME is definitely on the lust list for PS3 fans/fanboys.

I don't know why but I find it interesting that 4 of the 5 will be on PC at some point, and will likely (if GoW, the original Fable and Mass Effect are anything to go by) have additional content, etc. to boot as well.

360 really needs to get rid of the perception its just a cheap PC to play slightly dumbed down FPS/Third Person PC games on IMHO if it wants a shot at the PS1/PS2 levels of console sales.

Take a look at the GI review of Dark Messiah for the 360. Apparently, the reverse is true in that instance, i.e. - the 360 version came later but definite improvements were made. Also, the review of PC Assassins Creed in GI had points taken off for not having as elegant a control interface on the PC as on the PS3/360.

Count me in as one of those who grew tired of having to upgrade my PC ever couple of years to be able to play the latest AAA titles. As soon as I switched to PS2 I found that I was spending less money upgrading, had a broader selection of games, and was spending more time playing games in the living room with the wife and kid rather than isolating myself in the computer room. Now that we have the 360 and Wii, the same appears to be true.

PC's are really the only way to go for RTS games, but for everything else I have no desire to go back to sitting by myself in another room or being forced to move my PC to the living room for gaming and then having to take over the home theater when I want to get work done. Our family is much happier with the current setup.

My point was these games show that a) 360 is still sharing market with PC owners and b) that unless it gets a broader set of 'must have' games in more genres it has no chance of every seeing the kind of sales PS1 and PS2 did.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I thought I wanted Gears of War due to all the hype created by the media (I thought I couldn't go wrong with this one), this until I bought the game and actually played it. I can understand why some may like the game, but the story telling and main characters completely put me off. That's also why I am not actually much interested in Gears 2 on the PS3.

If they remade a similar game with appealing characters, much improved storyline and take care of some issues (like the boss you can actually fight in the PC version, no more unrealistic crouched running, improved controls [too many action on 1 button], scrap useless irritating lightgun section [replace it with something cool], more ways to kill/hurt some foes than the satellite pointing device and far more satisfying ending/boss it could turn into a game on my wantlist. Graphics apart from some too apparent pop-ins were good, some of the gameplay aspects felt good.

PS3 vs 360 sales

As a 360 owner I feel...

1. Dead Rising

Yep deserves its place on the list. I owned it from console purchase and it only cost me 30 bucks second hand. First game I completed on the X360 and I was more than happy to play through the game several times.

2. Fable 2 replace with Forza Motorsport

Fable 2 is not yet released so I would rather replace this with Forza. As a beautiful racing game the Sony box has it with GT5 Prologue but as a Top Marque Racing Simulator GT5P is sent licking its wounds and scurrying into the corner. Forza plays host to a better handling and physics model for my money. Not only that but the Dynamic braking line was such a breakthrough GT5P nicked it then implemented it in GT5P so it showed up how poor the PS3 coped with the physics updates. Poor programming or Cell proving "Jack of all Trades, Master of None"

3. Mass Effect

Yeah I loved it but then again I've always loved Bioware games. Again picked up cheap second hand. Its available on the PC as well but mine is nowhere near powerful enough to run it.

4.. The Orange Box.

Wait I hear you cry thats not an exclusive. Its is when you consider that the PS3 Port is totally crippled by being forced onto Cell in an unfit, unoptimized state. Felt for the Ps3 on that one and at the time it felt like EA were sticking the proverbial boot in. Shocking port.

5 Halo 3 replace with Saints Row

This game really surprised me. I mean its got its faults but I rarely find myself laughing out loud at a the humour in a game. I love the GTA series and wanted to dislike this game but the story line was so involved and the missions so absorbing. I know the PS3 fans are getting the sequel but boy are they missing out for the time being. I agree with some of the Sony fans that Halo 3 was over rated but I dont consider it a bad game just not a 10 out of 10 more a generous 9/10 or solid 8/10.

6. Gears Of War

One for the Pot. It was pretty awesome.

The PS3 port of The Orange Box is far from "totally crippled". I've played through each game and episode and only noticed one significant drop in frame rate, and it only lasted for a short period of time. I haven't played the 360 version, so I can't comment on the difference in load times, but again there were no significant load times in the PS3 version. I should also add that I played through each game and episode before the patch was release, and the patch might have fixed some of these issues.

I like many games which are considered to be good or excellent games (look at my profile for some hints), but Kameo was our reason to get a 360 at the time.
