Wooh I am back gentlemen. Sorry that I wasn't able to contribute on the day the sales numbers were released. But that's another story of injustice.
Congradulations to King of Wale mesoteto. And really anyone who was within 10-20k.
Let's discuss why it hit 130k first week when so many predicted it wouldn't. I made numerous arguements within the week of the release suggesting, that maybe our predictions were too low due to advertising and brandname. So why is that absolutely correct? First of all the main arguement against big opneing sales by people on here was lack of quality. However we are forgetting the game didn't lack quality, just features. It's still a game that works very well. It's not like it's a bad game.
Secondly we are simply thinking this game to be only for the hardcores. When indeed the game is nonetheless for everyone. It sold well on its first week because of a large amount of advertising. Trust me this game was advertised very very well for the Wii release. I mean spots in the NBA Finals, on almost every main channel including ESPN, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, Nickolodeon, VH1, Spike, the regular channels, F/X, ect. I mean it got the advertising of a game that we all wished Boom Blox and No More Heroes would have got. thus with that advertising and that brand appeal(a GH like game is probably how it seems) there is no way the title could have sold bad on its first week. NOT A CHANCE.
Finally we need to remember one thing. Most of the people that bought this game bought it off the advertising and hype. Meaning they didn't go online to check features and see if it was a rip-off or not. They didn't compare or things like that. They simply watched the commercial or walked into a store one day and saw it and picked it up. These are how your every now and then gamers buy. They buy the popular brands, and that's what the Wii section did.
Now legs of this title is totally different but seeing that the advertising has continued and sales seem to be stagnant, I doubt we'll see this game simply fade into oblifion. Gold status confirmed, and depending on when Rock Band 2 releases, could go platinum itself. I have no idea how much GH: WT will hurt it, but I don't think Aerosmith with take anything away from it.
Good predicting guys and keep up the good work.
