Im sorry. Really didnt mean to come off like that. Its just that its 4:30am here and I cant sleep for at least another 3 hours when my shift is over.

Less than (approximately) 1% of gamers have bought a system that launched for more than $400 (US) in previous generations; I think it is fair to say that this market is pretty small. Now, when you take a tiny market and add competition all sales will (pretty much) come at the expense of the competition's sales.

Beyond that I'm not certain that the PS3 is the system which should be associated with the drop in sales ...

America: Wii > 360 > PS3
Europe: Wii > 360 = PS3
Japan: Wii >> PS3 >> 360

PS3 and 360 are basically in the same position, with the difference that 360-America > PS3-Japan.

You're right in every item except 360 = PS3 in Europe. PS3 is doing worse than the 360 there so far, and no proof of your claim is in sight for now.

This is the PS3's downfall. They are beating the 360 in Japan weekly by less than 10k, but in NA, 360 outsells the PS3 by about 30 - 40k weekly.

PS3 Japan Monthly beats 360 by about 40k.
360 USA Monthly beats PS3 by about 100k.

PS3 needs Japan to beat the 360.

It would be interesting if each console had considerable market share at different points of the globe at the end of this generation.
Example
Wii - Dominates Japan
360- Dominates US
PS3 - Dominates Europe
I think it would be a good thing if all 3 found a place that they could thrive in.

I don't think that it's good for us gamers if all the 3 consoles find a place for itself, because that means you have to get all the consoles to play all the good games. The best would be a situation like last gen, but with one console less; one dominating all over and the other one surviving. this ensures us that there won't be a monopole, but it also means that the dominating console gets all the good games except the first party games of the other console.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

ever since the week ending may 13th the 360 has consistantly outsold the PS3 in others with steady sales while the PS3 sales continue to plunge week after week. PS3 is getting beat badly in the UK.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

It's really frustrating when people assume that you bought your 360 because you couldn't afford an PS3. It's the collection of available 360 games! Maybe I'll get a PS3 as well to serve as a moviemachine :) Thats if the Blu-Ray format ends up winning the war on HD-DVD.

/Regards a filthy rich 360 owner :)
