To be honest, I think his list is pretty silly =), however there were a couple of good sentences in that first paragraph. He should have stuck those as his reasons.

I know you might be surprised, but not everyone finds these lists of PS3 games any reason to get excited. Hell, there are only like 2-3 that I even care about.

10. Agreed
9. Maybe
7. See 10, it's really a repeat of it!
6. Didn't care about 1-4, so not a good point!
5. So is the Wii. The Wii rocks!
3. Don't call $600 cheap... already cheaper blue-ray players.
1. Same proxy as 6, but only doubly so!!!
In before people come in and shit on Sony in here.
Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!
That list is so stupid (and even false at times) that it defeats itself...

URNotE said: SOURCE N4G.COM My post yesterday about the "Top 10 Reasons to Keep the PS3 Dream Alive" really sparked some heavy debate. It seems to me that most gamers are inclined to latch on to one system and think negatively about the others in the race. That attitude is simply not a great one to have. I know many Xbox Fanboys want to see the PS3 go down in flames and vice versa. The question I raise here is; what possible good could come out of one system winnig the next-gen war? The answer is obvious. If only one system rules, we'd have a monopoly and see game prices skyrocket. Right now, competition is driving prices down and encouraging quality game production. Right now, we should all want 3 systems to be in the mix of things. Too many people are judging the PS3 on early system sales. Trust me when I say this, the Sony PS3 will be a strong competitor in the future. I'll be completely honest, I play the Xbox 360 more than any other system, but I refuse to allow myself to become a system loyalist. It's better for us as gamers to keep our options and opinions open for the future. All it's going to take is a couple awesome games for the PS3 to all of a sudden be popular. That's simply how the world works. My original top ten list follows the break.

10. This is true, but I don't know if that really counts as a legitimate reason to keep hopes for a console alive though. Hell, I gave the Gamecube six years...
9. Power is nice, power is impressive, and it certainly makes beautiful games. However... power doesn't equal gameplay... power doesn't equal realistic or feasable development potential... power doesn't equal sensible or justified. The one thing power does equal though is being expensive.
8. Backward compatibility which as of yet isn't 100% with all games and in adition requires updates and upgrades that are an insult to a console that should have had all of this taken care of such issues before hand, thanks Sony, I always thought my console should be more like a PC. The PS3 also requires external adaptors for the PS1/PS2 controllers and memory cards. With a console that damn big its not unreasonable to ask they find a place somewhere to put auxilary ports for the PS1/PS2 peripherals. Let us also not forget that the UK version of the PS3 isn't truely reverse compatible at all, it has to emulate like the 360 does. The only potential appeal the PS3 would have as a reverse compatibility console is if it were built better than the PS2, and that remains as of yet to be seen. The PS3's reverse compatibility isn't terrible (assuming you have one of the Japan/US models) but it certainly drops the ball for a franchise which coined reverse compatibility as the standard with the PS2.
7. This is true, this is very true. I don't think there is a single person who thinks the PS3 will stay 600 form cradle to grave, there real question is when the price cut will be, without that knowledge there is really no measure or context to the validity of this point.
6. It is a very popular series, no arguing that. Be interesting to see how many PS3s it moves. I'm still somewhat amused though by the fact that MGS4 and FFXIII have been relatively abandoned as popular argumentative selling points for the PS3 in favor of Sony in-house exclusives that Sony fans know won't become cross platform.
5. So is the Wii. Just about everything pretty much is.
4. Yes I'm sure Home itself will define this entire generation of gaming.
3. The PS3 is already a cheap Blu-Ray player and is on its way to becoming an expensive Blu-Ray player.
2. Alot of games could be big hits for the PS3. I'm still waiting to see a highly anticipated PS3 game outside of MGS4 or FFXIII that offers anything more than graphics to its name though. I'm sure there will be tons of great PS3 games, just its kind of fool hearty to think you can pick anyone of them out if they aren't an already established franchise.
1. Yes, we'll all be sure that get's put on the PS3's tombstone, "this console at least had Grand Tsurismo 5".

Listen... The only reason you need to keep the PS3 dream alive is your want for it to happen. If its the console you're rooting for, that's all the reason you need. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. But for crying out loud when you're preaching to the choir I don't think you need to make a list like this to sell it to the people already in your boat. The only thing you can do is give it more time and keep the dream alive as best you can as a consumer, if others jump ship that's their problem, you stick with what you want to win and what makes you happy, its as simple as that.

Bluetooth is part of the reason the PS3 controller sucks so much

"Why do they call it the xbox 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away"
These are good reasons why the PS3 will be good, later on.
Which means maybe I'll get a PS3 next year sometime, maybe 2 years from now.
I'm guessing there's a lot of people that would buy a PS3 in a couple years when there are actually good games and a decent price...I think Sony screwed up by trying to force this system on us now for the sake of Blu-Ray basically.
And who knows, when the PS3 is actually a valid system in a year or so, we could have another Microsoft console announced...it's all unknown.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
Gballzack, I don't fully agree with some of your points.
"Power is nice, power is impressive, and it certainly makes beautiful games. However... power doesn't equal gameplay... power doesn't equal realistic or feasable development potential... power doesn't equal sensible or justified. The one thing power does equal though is being expensive."
-Of course, but that's the developers job. However, I don't believe Nintendo when they say that with power, all your games will suck. Again, it's the developers job to harness that power. Think Valve's Source engine and Epic's Unreal engine, as time goes on, more additions and fixes improve on that powerful software.

- Okay, fault Sony for not 100% BC since they did use that as a pro of getting a PS3, but at least it's there and it's being updated. Unless I'm mistaken, the 360 requires updates for more titles to work as well. While I'm not going to fault that (unless there is a game that I loved that wont work), I can't understand how expanding that list is a bad thing. For the controllers, correct me if I'm wrong, but do the Xbox controllers and memory card units work on the 360 (cause I have no idea)? It's not as bad as you think for the PS3, I recently bought the memory card and Pelican PS2 adaptor and they work nicely (the PS2 adapter works on my PC too since it emulates the Sixaxis and I have the driver for the Sixaxis). Oh, and the PS2 adapter saves me $35 too (though no motion control) till a rumble controller comes out since Sony and Immursion have made up since it's only $15. Not only that, the memory card adaptor was finially worth getting after the 1.8 update because now I can save my data back onto the PS1/2 memory cards to take to friend's houses. Speaking of USB ports, there are 4 ports on the front, that's pretty convienent if you want to compare the console to a computer since I have to get behind my desk to get to my USB ports for anything bigger than a USB storage device or controller (long term usage that is).

-Well I recall Xbox 360 loyal starting to say that the PS3 can't rely on MGS4 and FFXIII alone when somebody would mention those two games. So why is that bad that people are looking foward to more than just those two games?

"The PS3 is already a cheap Blu-Ray player and is on its way to becoming an expensive Blu-Ray player"
-But then that bodes the question, $500 for just a blu-ray player or $600 (hopefully soon to be less) for a blu-ray, media, and game machine? I think there's much more value for only $100 more.
