Forums - Sales - Trusty Bell - first shipment

PS3 users are starved for ANY Japanese centric game right now, so Folklore should get a good boost. And, as mrstickball pointed out, the install base is nearly 3 times that of the 360. By that logic, Folklore should sell at least about 3 times the number of Trusty Bell games sold. So, if TB pulls in 50k it's first week, we should expect Folklore to get 150k, right?

I didnt know that was coming out so soon. If it is coming out in june. We will likely see a decent boost in sales, becuase this is the #1 jrpg coming out this year for the PS3 that I'm interested in. I would think it would be adopted fairly well, and it seems to have a really... j-centric story, wich would make it sell even better.

FolksSoul comes out the week after Trusty Bell, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma comes out the same week as Trusty Bell, so the PS3 should get a healthy boost. If they are fortunate, it'll get a Gundam Musou boost.

I'd be willing to bet that folksoul will do better musou. Mainly because it's a JRPG and they tend to have monster sale... espeically if their advertised well.

uhm .. the installmentbase is not 3:1 (yet?) it's 2.4:1

2 things I wish for : 1. FolksSoul and NGS revive PS3 in japan
2. that we will see Trusty Bell on PS3 later this year

let's see if those come true *prays*

That'll be pretty huge if they do better than Gundam Musou first week. That means you're expecting close to 200k.

If Blue Dragon is any indicator, TB could sell 50k easy. This should be an interesting week.

Does anyone have thoughts on NGS' performance in Japan first week?

Edit to include hardware for the respective launches of Gundam Musou and Blue Dragon:

1746,371 (+122%) 749,524
5337,821 (+748%) 229,496

I expect:

Folksoul - 100k - 120k week one

Ninja Gaiden Sigma - 50k - 70k week one

Trusty Bell - 45k

Don't get your hopes up too high, Brave Story, also from Game Republic didn't sell all too well in Japan, about 50.000, while that game is amazing! Plus the fanbase of the PSP was around that time much larger then it is now for the PS3. To me, Folksoul doesn't look all too impressive.
Not worth buying a PS3 right away at least, only White Knight Story and a Star Ocean IV would.

Shipments are no sales yet ;) Though I think Trusty Bell will sell, that game looks to me worth buying a 360, not that I would, as the rest of the games doesn't really interest me. It has the kind of atmosphere which I love, which Level 5 dropped in Dark Chronicle / Layton for example.

Bona - the difference is that Trusty Bell actually has solid, confirmed hype. It's like comparing Dead Rising to Blue Dragon. Both fantastic games, but one had huge ammounts of hype, a bundled system, ect, ect.

As stated earlier - if retailers are willing to purchase 70,000 copies of Trusty Bell week 1 + the Trusty Bell X360 bundles, then they're also going to do whatever they can to sell those games and bundles too.

A good example to compare would be infact Gundam Mousou, as stated - There were around 170k orders from retailers. Guess what? Retailers pushed the game and it sold out wk. 1.

You cannot stress the importants of retailer pre-orders, because that means no matter what, TB is going to sell the 70k - either first week, or first year, as retailers aren't going to just keep the copies instock, and sit on them.

Just combed through alot of numbers about Blue Dragon:

Blue Dragon's first week shipment was 73,000 units + bundles
Trusty Bell's first week shipmenty is 70,000 units + bundles

Blue Dragon sold 43,000 copies it's first day, not including bundle sales. It ended up with 88,000 for the week, and 35,000 h/w sales that week.

*IF* Trusty Bell sold at the exact same rate, we should expect 83,790 software units sold, including the bundled titles, as well as 33,250 hardware units.

This is all speculative though. BD was a Christmas title, and TB is mid summer, which should greatly affect it. However, these give us numbers to go by.

So whatever TBs first day is, I'd say a 2x multiplier should be expected.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
