That's because 360 fans were using shortages as an excuse as to why PS3 has beaten the 360 in NA.


I understand that but it's legitimate for them to bring that up as a reason for PS3 winning Jan/Feb when plenty of people could verify the shortages across the US by walking into a store and seeing no Premium or Elite SKUs. The thing is once MS worked out the problem the 360 fans stopped mentioning it and didn't keep trying to use that as an excues and the PS fans continue to bring it up to mock them months later. At this point it's just getting annoying.  I fully expect to hear "Haha wonder if there were shortages" in September.

Nothing really that surprising to me, honestly. Nintendo's big 3 (Smash, Mario Kart, and WiiFit) strategy is paying off well. I believe that's part of what is keeping the PS3 and 360 as low as they are. The first five month of the year lineup for the Wii is just flat out the best of the three consoles.

 The wii is in stock at just about every store WW, so anyone who wants a wii can buy one, there is no massive stock shortage like ther was before.  By the end of July the wii will have decent stock across all stores WW, this will allow Nintendo to bump Production to 2.4mil for the start of August and have enough wii's WW for the Christmas rush. 


That's pretty funny ... If you look at Futureshop.ca and Bestbuy.ca the Wii is sold out at all but one location in Calgary (and I'm pretty sure that one store will be sold out by the end of the day). I walk into a walmart, Zellers or Real Canadian Superstore on a (pretty much) daily basis and have never seen a Wii on their shelf.

Certainly, if you camp out at a store on the day of a shipment you can get a Wii but I still think it is fair to say that availability for the Wii is still very low in many places.

PS3 (with Canada) undertracked by atleast 50k, not that much. =)
But GTA4 sales of x360 version is over 500k, while ps3 version is just over 150k..
Wi fit also just by 150k. =]

Overall PS3 FTW! =) GTA4 is a system seller. ))
June will rule with MGS4 launch. =]

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

yeah besides GTA4 the others are tracked very good,but i think only GTA4 will need to be adjusted since the canadian sales might bring those games closer to vgchartz numbers

The three stores I was in today that had neither Wiis nor WiiFits say otherwise...granted, this is a small subset of stores, but I still doubt your 'just about' every store claim. Evidence? Even anecdotal?


 The only place the wii is not in stock is the US, but more and more reports are coming in that the wii is in stock at more locations each week then the prior week.  The wii has been in Stock for japan all year, and most of Europe for the most of the year aswell, as of 1month ago the wii has seen stocked stores in Canada.  So by the end of july the US will see enough stock.
