The game looks great.... I kind of want it now, but I just hate stealth games

I don't buy that gametrailers is biased against the PS3. 9.3 is a great score. I don't see what the big deal is.

GameTrailers gave the story for MGS4 an 8.7 score. That's not all that bad, but they also gave the story for Halo 3 a 9.6 score. Halo 3 was a great game and I don't understand the series well enough to nitpick at every last thing, but that definitely can't be right there.

 9.6 for Halo is a joke, MGS is known for its story telling, and to be beaten by Halo! I think they thought the cut scenes were too long

 You just have to listen invisible walls to see how they hate PS3. Anyway 9.3 is good score and coming from GT for a PS3 exclusive mean great score.

People shouldn't be angered by the score. Soon we'll have scoring systems that work like:
9.567
And everyone will be complaining why the game didn't get 9.568

Does it really matter if the game didn't get 0.4 more than the score it got? They rated it down on things that can be disagreed on. Story, 8.7? Obviously the more hardcore fans of the game are gonna appreciate the story more and things like that. People who don't care about graphics so much can put that up to 10/10. All sorts of things that can change the final score.

It's over 9.0/10, people should be happy. It's gotten worse. My favourite game isn't rated 99/100 on metacritic. But I honostly couldn't care. Just enjoy the game and forget scores.

I haven't played either game, but I did see the ending of Halo 3 on youtube, and I guess it was pretty emotional if you are a Master Chief fan.

Either way, I see the point your making, however, I think that gametrailers has a tendancy to over-rate hyped games.

Maybe their recent reviews are attempting to correct that. Or perhaps this game is from a different writer at the site.

If I've learned one thing, it's that you can't compare games from different periods on a parameter score basis.

That said, it is a little fishy that the story of a MGS game got below a 9, since story and boss battles are the main reasons to play the games. However, it seemed like a few overly-complicated cutscenes annoyed the reviewer. Still, I think the whole GRiD conspiracy controversy was bullcrap. There is no way that gametrailers would knowingly cheat like that, when they have so much to lose. I think it was just a mistake.

Virtually every site on the internet over-rated Halo 3, or so I hear, so you can't cherrypick Gametrailers out and say that they over-rate 360 games, because of Halo 3.

Like I said, I see where you are coming from, and it does seem suspicious, but I also don't believe that 9.3 should be hateworthy in any way.

Now, I love MGS3. I think MGS1 and 3 are great...and what I say this, know that I love the series. No game in the MGS series should ever rate higher than MGS1 on any review site. It was just too revolutionary. Yet, even MGS1 had some flaws. I would give the game a 9.5. Even if MGS4 is far superior to MGS1 in story and boss battles, which is as we all know, highly doubtful, then 9.3 is still and excellent score for the game.

You can claim that Gametrailers gives 360 exclusives higher scores than they deserve, though I would disagree, as I think most of the 360 exclusives that they score too highly are scored too highly on most other sites as well.

However, if you claim that they are underscoring MGS4, then I think there might be a misunderstanding on just what a great score is, for a game, and how opinions fit into the review system.

A 9.3 for the general audience is a great score. To a MGS fan, this game will be a perfect 10. However, not every guy off the street is gonna like this game even if they give it a chance, and when you start getting into the 9.5+ category, that's what is required. That the game be universally loved and flawless. If you could describe MGS as universally loved and flawless, then it wouldn't exactly be MGS anymore.

Rating games on hype is something all reviewers are now attempting to combat after the Halo 3 and GTAIV debacles. These games are great, but they aren't perfect, and now with the scrutiany reviewing is under in the gaming industry, conspiracy theories aren't helping any reviewers maintain credibility lately. Gametrailers is just the latest victim.

IMO, the PS360's best game is Call of Duty 4, GTAIV, and Bioshock. I haven't played MGS4, but it's impossible for any game to be much better than those. I don't mean to seem sceptical, and I do love MGS1 and 3, but I doubt it is actually better than those games, though it certainly could be "as good." I'll know for certain soon.
