Forums - Nintendo - Mario Kart shortage?!

I recently won a Mario Kart tournament at my local Wal-Mart, the prize was 50 dollars in gift cards. I wanted to purchase the game with my gift cards but it turns out that they were sold out. I called around to other Wal-Marts around me to see if they had any and they were also sold out. So I just recently began looking around online and saw that they are out of stock online at Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and Gamestop to name a few. I then Checked Amazon and its selling for 80 dollars new.

I've been following the charts and despite its massive week one opening its been selling pretty steady at over 100k in the Americas. I know thats a lot sold but I just feel like they should have more than 100k MK's in America, it's a big game and now it looks like I'm gonna have to camp the Wal-Mart ads and wake up at 6 AM on a Sunday just to get the game.

Anyone else having problems finding this game?

it was also sold out around my area

I find it kind of upsetting...I went into the tournament expecting to win the game if I won, which is actually why I held off on buying it (last tournament the winner won SSBB a month after it was released). But no I get gift cards and then a slap to the face with "oh we don't have any copies for you to purchase."

Guys just cause it has Wii on it doesn't mean its sold out haha. I mean seriously yes the Wii has been sold out for awhile and a few of its games have had similar problems, but more than likely, most Wii software is not sold out aside from holiday season or if that wii software has hardware with it aka Wii Play, Guitar Hero 3 or Wii Fit.

I see it as a case of Retailers underestimating the long legs MKWii has.
I am sure they are waiting for the next shipment.

Zucas I wasn't making an assumption on its sell out, its fact that I can't find it anywhere and the prices for it online are jacked up.

It's been dropping sales in Americas for week over week. So is this because they simply aren't pushing out enough of them since its still sold out?

I'm from the same country, and the first few weeks I couldn't find Mario Galaxy. I was just glad that I ordered it online. Did the same now with Brawl.

But as for MKWii, I happend to be in a toystore last weekend and as I stood in fron of the register a call came in for MKWii. The cashier told the woman that they don't even take pre-order listings anymore :S.
