Forums - Sony - RPG Petition for the PS3! Go sign it!

Onna: yeah I know, but I never complained about RE5 for example. I'll buy a HD console especially for RE5.
I do understand your and Zens complaints about the JRPG situation on PS3, and I understand that you make a petition, but you have to admit that when Wii owners make a petition for a certain game all the PS3 fans are like "lol, should have bought a PS3". This is the same, PS3 just isn't the console for JRPGs, buy another one.
At least you can enjoy the Wii JRPG's that are coming if you refuse to buy a 360. Star Ocean 4 on 360 rumours are becoming stronger...

@Benga Benga

well JRPG's wise....the only reason most of us cling onto it for that genre is because of FF13...no other reason.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

The number of petitions is growing rapidly. Impressive

We're talking about JRPGs right? Obviously developers aren't going to listen. THey may be aware of the problem, yes, but when have they cared about random forum members? They'd rather develop for the systems that actually have a large Japanese userbase (Wii and DS) and if games are being moneyhatted and development funds are being paid for the system's JRPGs (360) then I doubt anyone would bother with the PS3. This is why we haven't seen many JRPGs announced for the PS3 besides the ones that started before the PS3 even launched (FF XIII, probably WKS, etc.).
Most JRPGs are niche games.  FFXIII and WKC, on the other hand, are going to sell well thanks to the power of their brand names.

Excuse me but since when WKC had a strong brand name? Is it a sequel to a good selling game that i'm not aware of?

Most RPGs nowadays ARE niche. The only ones that aren't niche are DQ, FF, and KH. That's literally it. That's also a reason why you won't find many JRPGs on it especially when the Wii is easier to develop for and has a larger userbase.

Don't you mean most JRPGs are niche.  DQ, FF, and KH can't be the only non-niche RPG series, that just makes no sense.  What about Tales and Star Ocean?  They sell pretty well for JRPGs not having the name of DQ, FF, and KH.
