Forums - General Discussion - I just an HDTV...

I have a Sharp Aquos HDTV, I bought the TV two years ago. My wife loves to watch movies every night, so I can't play videogames sometimes in the night.

I want to buy another TV, but right now I don't have to much budget. I was in a local store yesterday, and they have a lot of TV's on sale.

I saw a JVC HDTV, it's 30" and Widescreen, 480p, 720p and 1080i, 1 HDMI, 3 HD components and S Video/Composite video.

But, is a CRT, but flat screen. It's bulky. BUT, the price... only $150. Liquidation.

How does a CRT HDTV compares to an LCD? Good response time, black levels, contrast, bright, etc?

CRTs are superior to LCDs in pretty much every way but brightness and footprint.

Buy it. You won't regret it.

BTW, I'm only seeing 1080i for that TV.

Which can be a problem if you own a PS3. Not all games support it. On top of that, it means you'll be rocking 30fps no matter the game. If you don't mind that, buy it.

You only use 'an' when the word after it begins with a vowel or a vowel sound (like honour). The thread title should read, "I just got a HDTV". Sorry to single you out, but I have seen the same mistake so many times on this forum and it annoys the hell out of me.

OT: Sorry I don't know anything about TV's :P

Oh, I know that. But it was a typo. I missed the word "saw"

"I just saw a HDTV..."

Are you sure about that? I was always taught to use "an" phonetically. That's why people say "a university" because it's pronounced "You-niversity". The same applies to acronyms like "an HDTV" because it's pronounced "aytch-DTV".

I Googled it and there is no clear answer I could find. I'm just curious.

150$??? I'd have it already at home

i want an hdtv, but I'm worried that even if a get one with an awesome picture, it will have shitty sound. My former roomate bought an 800 dollar Samsung and the speakers are absolute shit. And some of the games' colors seem to tear into each other.

 It is definitely "an" HDTV.

Personally, I don't understand how people exist without a stand-alone stereo system. TV speakers are shit.
