terrible, that title is so misleading
@sc
I believe it's 640x480, just like PC monitors. 800x480 would look... weird.

Which games run at 800x480? Do you have proof/links of this? Sorry it's only 783x444. ALL consoles have DACs. That's how they output their signals... CPUs are digital, most TVs use an analog signal... Well I'm guessing if the ps2s and the original xbox supported this the wii would too. We don't know for sure I guess. Do you have links for your last statement? "If I remember correctly, you can render to the main memory directly. It would be excruciatingly slow and thus useless in any reasonable scenario involving gaming, but rendering a higher (than what the 2MB eDRAM could hold) resolution framebuffer might be done theoritically." That's from the Beyond3D link. http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=8802 " |
Meh.
Just you all wait 'till the next Zelda comes along. IT WILL HAVE 2160p GR3FICKS!!!one1!1 W00T!

There are not going to be HD graphics on the current Wii, if there were any HD games they would just be bumped up resolutions. Current HD games can't even run in "true" HD, so what makes you think that the Wii will.
I am willing to bet that the people who believe in Wii HD games are the same ones who thought there was a full three dimensional holographic projector underneath the flap.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Well most of it is based off the original xbox being capable of hd. It's possible , but not pratical.
The only scenario where I can imagine HD would be possible is something like a Beat em up or puzzle game where's there's not too much going on , on screen.
