Forums - General Discussion - Why are people afraid of clowns?

@ benkenobi, that is really scary, then again I would never go near anything that had a living sized statue of a clown

sounds more like an urban legend you tell around a campfire to me, IMO.

'She was sitting in a strange living room watching a buxom red-headed mermaid lament her life under the sea on television with a couple of drowsy children. It wasn’t how she necessarily wanted to be spending her night, but the family paid well and if she forced herself to admit it, she really did like the kids.

This part really didn't sound like a "true" story. Sounded more like the beginning of a novel.

And i thought Ariel was pretty hot. Ariel, FTW

"Gacy had been convicted of the deaths of 33 young men and had the notoriety of being convicted of more murders than anyone else in American history".

 It may have been skewed a few times, but the story is generally the same...it did get reported on a few years ago I think.

I remember a much more straightforward story that had the clown sitting in a chair in the exercise room in the house (must have been a big house), and that the kids were afraid of the clown that sometimes walked around the house at night.  He was a homeless clown-for-hire that had been living in their house for like a month.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Justice is always Right... Oh wait... that was Wright...

@Benkenobi

That's pretty freaky, but wouldn't the kids know if they have a clown statue or not?

One of my friends was kidnapped by a clown when she was a child. True story. So she's been deathly afraid of them ever since.
