Forums - Sales - GP2X

I went to the G-Star Video game conference in Korea (Korea's E3). Gamepark was there showing off the XGP and Kid versions. I asked that guy, "so why do you have 3 different versions, and none of the games are compatible. Don't you think this will fail?". Also, I asked him if they had any developers on board, but they couldn't produce any names.

Haha, I was just reading Wikipedia and I guess they went bankrupt. Serves them right.

Well I know the GP2X is a different company, but i don't think their sales are very high at all. It really isn't a video game system. It is more like a PMP that can play games as well. Let's see some exclusive games, and we can talk.

@gearbox

you should be set on fire for even referring to that thing as a hand held console. all it does is steal other people stuff. anyway it probably only sells about 100 units a week

Its cool , but its only an emulator machine . Oh , and BTW this little machine barely managed to crack the 30k sales ;)

I think this is cool. It emulates games there isn't anything wrong with that. You can play all the original 8 bit and 16 bit games on one handheld for free.

Also, most home brew consoles have no developers. But there are underground developers making small games. '

I agree, we should really start tracking a machine that WW sells less over 1 year than the smallest of the handhelds we track sells in 1 week in the smallest market.

  You are way of , the system just shipped 30k by then , and it was expected to ship 20k more during the Christmas period  ... but seeing the rumors that sales went down , and the fact that the company could go bancrupt ... Im not shure it ever managed to push 50k . Oh , and the UK launch was a disaster ... it was an online site launch only , so yeah it was expected ...

Meh, if I want to emulate my games, I would buy a PSP. Until then, it's just me and my DS Lite!
