Forums - Sony - The Bourne Conspiracy 5 gig install

http://loot-ninja.com/2008/06/04/the-bourne-conspiracy-ps3-requires-5gb-install/

Seems like installs are starting to get a little out of hand. Why cant devs catche data to teh hard drive like oblivion or uncharted? I know some people are ok with the installs but I for one really dont like the idear of games taken up so much space.

That's ridiculous--even MGS4 doesn't get up to 5 gbs.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

ummm..if I buy this game it would be for the Xbox 360.

Why?

-no pre-install
-achievements

That's why...lol

I agree and disagree at the same time. Now, I don't have a huge problem with installs (seeing as I've mainly been renting games), but I'm pretty sure that caching game data was one of the reasons the PS3 has a hard drive in the first place.

Uncharted is a good example of not needing the hard drive and I think game installs can/will become a problem in the way of inconvenience as the library of games that do it increases. At the very least, optional installs should be implemented where if you don't install the data, things could take a little longer to load and you'd be able to play a game right away and then install the data if you'll be playing it for a while.

Start... to... fucking... stream!
What is it with all the developers just taking the easy solution?!
We want our harddrive for other stuff than just games you know!

theres many games that just use streaming on ps3, i dunno why there using 5 gig installs. the game is crap anyways, im not wasting 5 gig on that drab of a game

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

5gig? what the crap?! i'm not wasting drive space on this pice crap. if i had an x360, id go with that verison. but i dont, so i wont buy this game at all.

Well, nobody will bother buying this game anyways. I honestly don't mind the install because you can delete the game data later if you need to. God forbid you should ever have to install a game again (PC users have been doing it for years).

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S.  And only recently have the games started to take up 4-5GB of space. When you only have 40 GB of space to do with, where you can also keep stuff from the PS Store (demos, games, trailers etc.) and music, losing all that space to a single game starts getting annoying. Especially, when you know the developers don't have to use installs of that magnitude. I am perfectly fine with developers using the harddrive, but not to put 2/3's of the game on it.

Uncharted didn't have an install, but Devil May Cry 4 did. And yet, you never saw a single loading screen in Uncharted, where as they were all over the place in DMC4.

It all comes down to the developers, but this is starting to get out of hand. Use streaming for gods sake! Ask Insomniac how they do it, those guys would probably love to have you in the Nocturnal project!
