Forums - Nintendo - Ubisoft responds to Wii-owners upset with quality of titles

dib8rman said:
hey jman you just got me into hating the Wii and buying a PS360 - too bad I can't find a Ps3 aparantly they've been sold out since they've started bundling them with Wii's - but I just go my Xbox360 refurbished out the box, put in some good ol' GTAIV and it RROD on me - my friend sais to kick it twice thats how he fixed his. Gonna find a pic of SSX BLUR cause just yea.

I'm sorry if I came off condescending. I honestly wasn't trying to be. I was just trying to give an honest opinion and trying to rationalize Ubisoft's decision.

Hey, but I'm glad Sony figured out a way to keep up with Nintendo. Now that's innovation!

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

jman, how is Okami not a port?

No More Heroes is a success, the developer is thrilled with the numbers as the game is still retail $49.99 also the game wasn't advertized at all, it shouldn't have sold half that honestly but word of mouth did the trick, plus the game is super niche, not many people like ultra-violent even on the PS2, if your going to argue killer 7's crap sales on the PS2 being not proving anything, note that they were made by the same guy as NMH and NMH sold way more than K7 with a smaller userbase of people who LOVE casual games and nintendo games.

So to add a period to this how about you point out a game similar to Beyond good and Evil on the Wii that you'd expect to sell, compare NMH to Beyond Good and Evil if you like, I'm sure you'll love those number, I know I did after I read your post I made sure to check myself.

NMH may just hit 500,000 units sold by the time its sequal comes out, it's sequal may be a million seller.

On top of that this guy is comparing trashy ports... man I wanna know what he calls games like The Club on the PS3, people know crap I bought prince of persia as my 2nd wii title unaware was I to the load of rubbish I just bought, it sucked so bad I almost cried man tears.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Steven, I think this is about ports and casual titles, and I think that ties directly into quality. What I mean is, it's too risky to devote your top teams and invest major funds into a high quality Wii title when you can rely on the PS360. I'm sure if Ubisoft had the resources, they would go after the Wii market with fuller force, but they only have so many dollars and more importantly, they only have so many talented developers. They had to make a choice on how to allocate those resources.

And yeah I would definitely get a Wii if the Shenmue or Skies of Arcadia rumors came true. Hell, I'll probably get one regardless of those two games. The thing is, At this point the decision to get one is not really up to me considering I've only encountered one Wii in the wild (when I didn't have any money).

Quoting this from the Ubi boards:

"
Just for the lulz I did a score compilation of Ubisoft's Wii games from IGN:

Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII - 5.7 (port)
Cosmic Family - 5.0
Cranium Kabookii - 5.5
Driver: Parallel Lines - 5.9 (port)
Far Cry Vengeance - 4.0 (bad rush job)
GT Pro Series - 4.0 (GT cube port)
Monster 4X4 World Circuit - 4.8 (bad game port)
My Word Coach - 6.8
Nitrobike - 6.5 (low budget outsource with N64 graphics)
Open Season 6.0
Petz: Catz 2 - 6.0
Prince of Persia: Rival Swords - 7.1 (quick and dirty port)
Rayman Raving Rabbids - 8.3
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 - 6.3
Red Steel - 6.0
TMNT - 5.5
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent - 5.5

that gives a average of... 5.8/10 (and you best rated game would be rated way lower if it has launched today instead of being a launch title)

All this so far, as I'm sure you'll manage to do worse with your upcoming garbage!

upcoming garbage/not reviewed:

Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 (port, outsource of the outsource, no online, bad graphics)
DogZ Wii (DS graphics)
Imagine: Party Babyz
Petz Catz 2
Petz Dogz 2
Petz Horsez 2
Telly Addicts
Top Trumps Adventures (board gamez)
Totally Spies! Totally Party
Who Wants to be a Millionaire? "

I think this shows that Ubisoft is indeed the worst 3rd party developer on the Wii, it's like a machine that constantly produces garbage and excrements.

The reason I brought up No More Heroes and Okami was because those were the only two games on the list that are considered very good games but aren't attached to mega huge franchises. Yeah, NMH sold well considering Killer 7 and developer expectations, but those sales still aren't good enough to warrant focusing development resources on the Wii as opposed to the PS3 and 360.

Wow they are really angry. Ubi better watch out.

DAMN YOU! I can't prove your totally wrong until monday =(, I'm on my PS3 browser so I can't save screens and copy paste them =( this sucks, just check for youself, their is a reason why loads of developers closed up shop or lost money last fiscal year and it had a lot to do with the PS360.

Wow, people are really mad at Ubisoft now, just check their forums.
This is great! I hope the word is spread and that people actually stop buying the pieces of excrement this new "Data Design/Phoenix Games" is going to release :)
