I love both games a great deal, and while neither is my favourite game of all time (that honour goes to the first Kingdom Hearts), I strongly believe that Zelda deserves the top spot. This was a game that revolutionized the industry, and upped the immersion level more radically than anything that's been released since.

I hate to break it to you people. Gamerankings is owned by Nintendo. So we have the biased reviews. Games like OoT that have been passed in gameplay and graphics by newer Zelda games, remains on top. Very odd a 10 year old game is on top of the rankings. Gamerankings is Rigged. confirmed.

Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda Twilight Princess, Super Mario 64. Are all better games than OoT. 

You just made absolutely zero sense.  If it was owned by Nintendo, what problem would they have putting any of those games on top?

 Those three games are all owned by Nintendo. But I believe every one of those games is better than OoT.

GTAIV still on top 

Yeah, last month it wasn't rigged yet. But then even the reflection of a by hype corrupted video game journalism had to admit Ocarina of Time was the greatest game ever. That's how good it is. 

And yeah, it should be deleted, just like that faggy FFVII and Metal Gear Solid those games are old, so they suck because ''theyz dont hav teh graffix''. 

Sony fanboys are you are understandable. The market has puked you out over the last couple of years, first by kicking your handheld out of destroying Nintendo's final stand, then by kicking your console in the nuts. Then the industry pulled a very, very dirty trick on you. While having major marketing and hyping, GTA IV went out to be the highest ranking game of all time, it gave the Sony fanboys a new thing to be proud about. At last, something positive happened to them.

But no.

OoT grabbed back the top spot again, even on the, now universally accepted to be rigged, Gamerankings. Now Sony(and Microsoft fanboys), are in despair and will start to have the follow arguments, Sacred Cows in Malstroms words:

1. Ocarina of Time isn't the best game ever, it has too little reviews to be taken seriously.

2. Old games just suck, because, well... (I can't say because the graphics suck, then I would be flamed...) the gameplay was inferior back then, and it is crap now!

The counterargument for 1 is that the balance is the same for both games now. While Ocarina of Time got reviews that were all good, GTA IV got some that were a overrating it, and some clearly underrating it. This is due to the hyping of the game. If it wouldn't have received such a massive hype, than the game would've been scoring way more egal. 

And the ''old games don't count'' thing doesn't work, we should only count the newest games if that was the case. And if old games are really all surpassed just by gameplay evolution, then how come Final Fantasy VII is seen as the greatest one in the series by a LOT of people? That game has had 5, almost 6 ''main'' succesors, and a hell of a lot more ''spin-off'' succesors.

And why do we use averages? Right, so it doesn't matter how many reviews a game gets, it's just so that we can see which one has done the best relatively. 

But don't be mad, Sony fanboy. I know how it feels to lose such a needless, useless, meaningless  thing as the gamerankings-top. After all, on the Zelda-level, people can hardly call me anything but a timeline theorist, a specialist, and a passionate Zelda-fanboy. I'm not a Nintendo fanboy anymore, but I AM a Zelda fanboy!!!

If this would be a happy socialist dictatorship, Super Mario Bros. on the NES would be on top. If you don't get this, look it up. For normal socialist democratic worlds, well, there's Ocarina of Time, and you should REALLY play it some time.
