I tried runescape once , not really my thing ....

although I have a few questions

-Will the system requirments increase for runescape ? (i'm thinking it's low system req where one of the things that attracted people in the first place)
-Or Will it just be another option e.g Low/High/Very high
-And will it still run in the web browser ?
-Will this graphical update change the gameplay mechanics at all ?

I assume the system requirements, even for the very high detail mode, wouldn't be very high

Likely, "very high" will require 256MB RAM and 700-800 MHz processor speed.

Good to see games like this gets an upgrade like this every few years. Maybe in 2 years we will see BF1942 level graphics. lol

If they created a downloadable installation version, we could have whatever graphics we'd want. Of course, the way the game works would hinder it in a variety of other ways, but still. I'd jump on an installer.

I was partially right here. They've announced the system specs.

RUNESCAPE GRAPHICS UPGRADE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

-1.5GHz processor

-256MB system RAM

-3D graphics processor with 64MB RAM (GeForce 3 or equivilent)

They also released the second development diary, and I'm going to edit all of this into the original post to display all of that.

Some of what they included in the development diary includes the following:

On the left is what a character's head (actually, mine looks exactly like that when I wear my Dragon Medium Helm) looks like during a chat screen. The right is what the same head will look like after the upgrade.

A shot of what Lumbridge Castle will now look like.

And an in-game shot demonstrating the fullscreen mode, which will adapt to your screen size, shape (widescreen or normal aspect ratios) and current resolution.

The next update for the game will be the graphical upgrade, if I am understanding the development diary correctly.

Sure he can. Firstly, he can trade you every fifteen minutes, so if you guys just hung around each other, you could trade every fifteen minutes and eventually get it back. Go train somewhere together or something.

Also, if you collect a bunch of willow logs or something else easy to collect but virtually useless, you can trade those to him for your cash.
