Agreed. Gears is the best console shooter of this generation IMO. There isn't a gameplay mechanic in the title that you can fault.

I won't buy it because i don't like Gears of war. but it sure won't bomb.

IMO, the lowest Gears 2 will sell will be 5m copies.

The X360 shooter fanbase will be rabid for another mega-hit, and GOW2 looks to be the fanboys wet dream right now. Hype is becoming more massive than GOW was (weather this is good or not remains to be seen).

I think Gears 2 is going to do phenomenal in sales..If MS drops the price to some sort of reasonable, mass-market price, it should be the "must have" Christmas title this year on the 360.

I'll go out on a ledge and say it'll hit 5m copies before this year is over, provided it debuts in early November.

Has MS ever done that with any new high-profile title?  I'm not sure it has done that with *any* new title, but I can't be sure.

I meant the 360. If the 360 is some sort of decent price by then, and has a price drop, a new "wave" of users will come to the 360 (and by wave, I mean above-normal # of users per week) will buy whatever is the high profile game. If the 360 does well in December, guess which title stands to benefit the most?

I think OP was trying to use cool 80's/90's hip-hop lingo and tried to say "Gears of War 2 will be DA bomb", but then failed miserably when he tried to put it in words.

Wow that statement is so not true, case in point Halo 2. There is every possibility Gears 2 will outsell gears 1 because people want to jump on the band wagon and want to have the fullest experience (that is play the latest game with most upto date graphics etc), for example, I'm buying R2 even though I haven't (though I intend to eventually) played R1. Another reason is that people play the original on another persons console and another persons copy, I believe that's what happened with Halo 1, I played the entire game on my relo's console, so when I finally got a 360 and had a chance to buy it for myself, I only bought Halo 2. I'm sure that was the case for many many many people.

Having experience a lot of the Epic games over the last 10 or so years (basically since the first unreal came out and i booted it up on my voodoo 2 and thought "sh!t that looks good!") I am certain the reviews will not bomb. Epic have a clear track record of delivering. At worse this game will score 85%+ reviews. Either way the small vid's I have seen on xbox live of the gameplay are clearly a step up over the first Gears.

I expect this game to sell nearing 5 million copies before Jan 09 based on its current release date of Nov.

Anybody who thinks that Gears will bomb financially is a moran. Even if it does get middle table 70% reviews (which is not going to happen) it will still sell over 3 million copies easily. Hardly bombing.

Infact 4 million total sales would be a disappointing performance which is kind of ironic since at the time of writing no PS3 game has sold this many.

Remember as well that financially Gears2 will have cost less to develop than Gears1. Epic and M$ will definitely make a tidy packet on this game, anyone who says different is not talking sense.

On a side note MGS4 is the first PS3 game which has really made me think, I wish that was on the 360, darn I had best get saving up.

GoW1:
-hyped to death
-new IP (that could bomb)
-install base was 5.5M

will end up selling 5.5M+ LTD.

Gow2:
-will be hyped to death (biggest MS release for the holyday season)
-succesful IP
-install base will be around 21-22M

3M LTD? ahahahaha...you must be the biggest PS3 fanboy in the known universe.
