Forums - Nintendo - Did nintendo shoot their load too fast this year?

Bahh! none of those titles have the power of SSBB Wii Fit or MK Wii. Period. The wii will sell with our without blockbuster games, but i still think they could have benefited more from spreading them out a bit. Wii fit for Christmas? With increased production...imagine the hype and sales.

Yes. I'm sure that Nintendo has nothing up there sleeve. E3 they will announce that they are going to drop out of the race all together so that they can just roll around in piles of money and let Sony and Microsoft fight each other.

Animal Crossing has been rumoured to have been pushed back to 2009 in this month's EGM. Virtually nothing has been said or confirmed about the other Nintendo franchises, don't let the people on this forum fool you into thinking all of those games are coming this year. People will buy the Wii if a load of games are released or not.

I guess you have Mario Baseball and Wii music to look forward to, if that's your sort of thing. Don't expect many traditional games though.

they will release the games you mentioned, but not a SMG sequel cause they only release one per console

SNES got two Mario titles and the NES had 3, there's no reason why they couldn't go back to this tradition.

*gets on his knees* Nintendo PLEEEAAAASE go back to this tradition!

Signature goes here!

How many times has Nintendo not had a game that has sold 3+ Million (or several 2+ Million selling games) that were released between July 1st and December 31st?

The fact that we don't know of any huge games just means that Nintendo has been keeping the promise they made to stop announcing games years in advance. It is quite possible that Kid Icarus, Donkey Kong, F-Zero, Starfox (Adventures) or several other well know Nintendo franchises will still be released this year ...

I am sure a big game will be released around then but it won't be anything as big as Wii Fit, Mario Kart or Brawl. Doesn't matter as Wii will still crush all other consoles and be sold out. And Wii Fit will continue to sell forever so it can be Nintendo's big game for the Christmas period. If they can increase Wii Fit and Wii supplies during Chrsitmas then the sales would be huge.

I shot my load when i read the title. And it came fast.

Considering Wii Fit had its launch nearly six months ago in Japan and Brawl will be out in PAL regions in june, they didn't actually "shoot the load" fast. After all, it was only 3 games in six months.
Then again, if you think the release of big titles, Metroid Prime 3 started 9 months ago. Which makes five big games during the period.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Just to point out, but WiiFit for Christmas would be a very bad idea... WiiFit needed to have a Spring/Summer release, because people start to focus on their appearance again. How you like to get a fitness program for Christmas...?

We all can see that Nintendo is dominating the other consoles. What i want to know is, should they have spread out SSBB, MK Wii and Wii fit? What else do they have in the bag for the rest of the year that will drive sales?

As others have said, Nintendo will announce more titles before too long.  Otherwise Nintendo would surely find itself in a sticky situation.

Animal Crossing sold nearly 10m on the DS. No power? You're clueless. Pikmin, Star Fox, Kid Icarus, and a load of new IP, yes, aren't quite as powerful as SSBB, Wii Fit, or MK Wii, but that doesn't mean they don't have tremendous power nonetheless.

Every title that's been mentioned in this post has potential for tremendous legs. That's the key - legs. SSBB, MK Wii, and Wii Fit will still be helping Ninty dominate come the holiday season, and with the help of the aforementioned IPs as well, Nintendo has nothing to worry about.
