Considering that "designers" who get reckonized it he industry usually are people on a power trip that take credit for the entire team's work... I will list developers I like rather.

Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts, Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle... Just pretty much the best storyteller in the industry, that's all.

He was PC-only until Psychonauts. He also has Brutal Legend coming out this year, which looks awesome.
