I still think the HD consoles could run it, I am just not sure that's the kind of game I would want to play with a controller.

I think SimCity is best left on the PC.

You need to play it with a semi-decent pc to understand it... with 1Gb PC dual core medium cities eats a ton of ram and run slow due to the loading sprites...

Shame on you galaki, you make me want to play it again, but that thing eat your time very easy...

It would require a complete re-write I am sure to put it on the PS3, but I think the CELL architecture would be great for this game (this game is CPU heavy). It would distribute well, and if done right, I would think you could get all of it in 256 meg of system memory.

Console memory usage is a lot different then PC memory usage.

That being said, I still don't think this game should come to the consoles.

No, the game is not cpu heavy, the game is more limited for the ram and the bad loading algoritms (they tried to fix it with patches) rather than CPU heavy, this kind of game relies more gpu ram, the speed and capacity of the ram than the CPU since all the citizens and cars move in a very predictable path, and the accidents are not that ramdon...

The sprites are the heavy part, loading is the heavy part, the game is not cpu heavy...

It's propably the VRAM bandwidth that most likely would be the limiting factor, if there's a lot of different objects moving differently.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

My laptop w/ AMD Turion 64 X2 @2.00GHz/4mb and a 256 MB ATI graphics card eats this game for lunch. However, I also have 2GB RAM, so I'm not sure if that is why. Either way, I'm pretty sure the PS360 would be able to run it fine even if RAM is an issue because of the power of their processors and GPUs compared to the games specs requirements. Not sure about the Wii, but it could probably run ok. (btw, my old 2.12 GHz single core w/1 GB RAM desktop also ran it no problem except in night view)

Still, to get it to run well on a console would probably require a significant time investment (as mentioned before, the controls would be a nightmare) and it probably wouldn't sell well. (whoo. I get to play a 5 year-old game on my brand new PSWii60...) Also, EA would never invest said time so it would sell even worse.

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

they could probably just about handle it on a low setting, but i wouldnt be worth getting as it would be a port (which often means crap when were talking about EA) and the 360 version wouldnt have keyboard and mouse, the 360 controller just wont work for a Sim City game.

Why wouldnt the 360 version have keyboard and mouse?

I agree partially, whenyou load a city, and move around the loading of the sprites is slow, adn you can watch your HDD working at the same time, the load stops, the HDD stops working... like I said sound more a mix between code and use of HDD, they fixed partiallywith one patch, the loading was faster in some areas, but still the game suffer from this with big cities...

The game is old only to those that played it.

Install Linux on your PS3 and then drop Sim City 4 in the bad boy, Im sure it'll run it fine, games pretty old.

I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

"Why post something like this when all it will get is PS3 owners blinded to reality replying? BOTH THE PS3 AND BLUE-RAY WILL NOT LAST 3 YEARS! TECHNOLOGY CHANGED TOO FAST!"

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"

"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"

Yeah, because 250mb of ram partially used by the OS is better than a medium Pc with 1gb of ram... in fact the Cell without the use of the SPU is slower than an Athlon 64 3700+ Single core (And Sim City doesn´t use any SPU)... but oh well...
