odion that 10.4 million was number of 360s shipped to worldwide retailers by the end of 2006. Through March 2007, the number increased to 10.9 million shipped.
The USA is the 360's best market, and actual sell through is under 6 million (over 6 million for North America). Japan is under 400,000, and Europe/other countries add upto over 3 million sold to customers.
Xbox 360 will hit 10.4 million in units actually sold sometime by July.
Since launch, Wii has effectively sold 2.25 units for every 360 sold worldwide each week.
So sales a difference of under 2,000,000 at 125,000 catchup per week...Under 16 weeks from June 3, 2007 (by September 23 or so). Sales rates will change though.
If Nintendo was aware of this, I think they would release some of the big guns (Galaxy, Brawl, Wii Health, etc) and hardware build up in Japan right as Halo 3 comes out. That surge would offset the 360 American surge, and keep Nintendo gaining over 360 at the same rate.
My time frame for Wii catching 360 is the last week of Aug to the first week of December. The sweet spot for me is September 24 to Nov 6. Next most likely is Nov 6-Nov 31, and Sept 10-Sept 23..least likely is Dec 1-7, or Sept 1-9.
