New XBox, PS and Nintendo console release date possibilities:

2011 = New XBox (XBox 720 hahaha no way stupid name makes no sense)

2012 = PS4 guaranteed name here. check.

2013 = New Nintendo Console. (Will not be Wii 2- too generic copies PS1,2,3, etc.) Maybe Wii HD or something original.

^Tech specs I have no idea. Technology constantly advances. Future unknown.

Comment people below. Cheers.

10 year lifespan for PS3 and every other PS console has been constantly maintained An overlap with PS console lifespans has occurred again and again. PS2 and PS3 were introduced during the seventh year of the predecessor's lifespan.

PS1 = 1994
PS2 = 2000
PS3 = 2006
Every six years a new PS console on market
PS4 = 2012?
PS5 = 2018?
and so on. lol.

NES = 1983
SNES = 1991
N64= 1996
Game Cube = 2001
Wii = 2006
New Nintendo = 2013? (Delayed due to success of Wii)

XBox = 2001
XBox 360 = 2005

New XBox = 2011?

Guessing the name for the new nintendo system can hardly be done as they usually give some cryptic or meaningfull name to it. Nintendo Entertainment System (or Famicom in Japan to stand for family entertainment), Nintendo Wii to depict the social aspect and blue ocean strategy...

It'll probably be something related to their new marketstrategy. 2013 seems like a reasonable guess in that aspect. But what will nintendo do after expanding the market? Anyone any clues as I don't get further then market retention by placing their aspect on either fun, or deeper immersion.

I think that Microsoft will indeed opt for a new name... Xbox revolution anyone :D?

I'm not sure I agree with you entirely.
PS4 2012 seems a safe bet
360 2011 seems probably

But I honestly don't think Nintendo will give Microsoft a full 2 year headstart, so maybe if 360 is late 2011 and Nintendo is early 2013, but even then.

I predict
Microsoft 2011, the other two 2012

Whoops, double post

That's a good analysis. Ever thought of becoming a professional and getting paid for stuff like this? You could do it.

I am forced to concur and submit myself to Rock_on_2008's amazing insight. It appears to provide an accurate formula: I wonder if Sony themselves know of the magic of PSn = 1988 + 6n. They could do away with market analysis, sales research and roadmaps and simply announce a PS49 due in the year 2282. Incredible!

@ Soleron Don't be silly, we won't have game consoles then, we'll all be plugged in to central servers and download games into our brain!!!

Hi, i'm solojohlo and i'm pretty fucking awesome

I agree with this analysis. I like the name nOObstradamus also. You should start a normal nOObstradamus thread. I'd read it.

Just for fun.
Nintendo, sitting on piles of money for development, monitors HD TV adoption rates, Wii sales and component costs and surprises everyone by launching first in time for the 2010/2011 Christmas season. Called the Wii+, Nintendo treats it like an upgrade because it is 100% BC, but it is received as next generation.

The new console, taking advantage of the reduction in component cost, offers full 1080p and up-samples older games. It turns out that the flagship Nintendo games and some 3rd party games produced in the previous 18 months already have HD versions on the disk.

In addition to HD video, the new console offers 2nd generation motion control including eye movement by tracking IR bouncing of the retina. A reduced cost and simplified optional balance platform intended only for gameplay and made more like a dance pad is inexpensive enough to allow up to 4 players use.

Internal memory is boosted to 4GB and a dedicated USB port is provided for the addition of any standard portable harddrive.

A new less controlled online experience is offered including chat with proof of age parental consent but current type of protection remains available for younger children.

Because of reduced component costs and economy of scale with a huge installed Wii customer base, the Wii+ launches at the same price and the Wii remains available for $150. A $50 credit is allowed for trading up, $100 if still in warranty.

The surprise move fends off planned market disruption strategies by Sony and Microsoft, retains the Nintendo customer plus providing a suitable platform, that to the delight of developers, presents high end games like GTA with a huge new customer base. That in turn attracts a large group of hardcore gamers.
