Forums - Gaming - Why has DQ (main series) been made by different devs everytime??

Now I don't really know the details here.

Didn't other devs (AretPizza, Chun Soft) made ALL the DQ games before DQ8?

SO why were they taken away from the franchise, is it because of the S-E merger...if so then why as even Level 5 is an independant company.

Did they (older devs) muck up? I mean what happened that ENix had to take away the original devs of DQ away from the franchise?

Nobody knows?

If i should make a guess, without knowing any details, my guess would be adding new touch for the series. Or if the old devs ran out of ideas. After all, the series is quite long.

The main DQ team is actually very small. That's why their output was so spaced out. After the SNES days, they really had to slow things down. DQVII took them a while, and all the text being localized was even more work. That meant the remake of DQIV couldn't be localized.

As for DQVIII, the team still worked on it, just with Level 5 doing the lion's share of the wok, considering the scale of the game.

why not Level 5? They are an amazing developer studio.

@Lordof the knight

ok...right

so team size was the problem, but the original key team still works on every game..I think thats good

@memory2zack

nothing bad....just wondering why it was like that

with FF the team has been changed only once (for FF12---FF Tactics team did it)

Well at the very least, the director, composer, and artist all work on the games. Otherwise, it wouldn't be DQ. Now with Level 5's help, we'll hopefully get localizations of the remakes of IV, V, and VI.
