Forums - PC - Mass Effect for PC, who's getting it?

It depends. Can anyone tell me what copy protection is left in the game now? If it's just the same as other PC games, you can count me in on day one.

Actually, if someone could answer that question soon, I'd appreciate it, since then I could save some cash by pre-ordering...

It checks your game with an online system the first time you play the game.

After that I believe all you need is the DVD to play the game, and even then you could probably get a no-cd hack if you really wanted.  It won't check online constantly except for if/when you download any future DLC...it checks then too.

It's about par for most PC games.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I'd love to but my laptop won't run it.

So no more of that "three registrations and you're out" nonsense? Sweet! Day one it is, especially since someone will have bypassed the online registration part by the time I need it. Thanks.

You don't need DVD to play, EA stated that releases with the copy protection only need to use the DVD when authenticating the first time and when downloading online content.

Well since I have no money and no job atm, not right away.

Sweet, I hate it when I have to use a DVD to play a game...we passed that stage years ago.

by using no-cd cracks yeah.
To this date pretty much most single player PC games (except Steam) games still use that method
Not a fan of it.
