 Yes you are right, but something similar happen with SMG one of the big games of Nintendo, pre-orders were big, but the actual sales were... well low compared to the preorders... is this game bigger than SMG???

Just remember the PS3 has a relatively small userbase to sell too, so these numbers aren't that bad.

Source said that these were actual pre-orders, not retail pre-orders.  The data comes from the same place he gets his Preliminary Data each week, so 165k actual people have pre-ordered the game.

Plus bundling from both Konami and Sony should ensure a week of 3-400k, not disappointing at all.

Not everybody that preorders the game will get it on the first day too. MGS4 comes out on a school/work day.

Ever since God of War 2, I've had very little confidence in pre-order numbers. It was widely reported that GoW2 had over a million pre-orders, but first week sales weren't anywhere close to that number.

I wouldn't worry too much about pre-order numbers either... The PS3 selling 6,900 units in Japan last week with less than three weeks to go until MGS4 is much more worrisome.

Christ Almighty, the PS3 is approaching 360 territory in Japan. I never, ever thought I would see this.

With the bundle coming people would be stupid to buy a PS3 before the release of MGS4.

They will get the game for free if they wait to buy their console as a bundle...



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Expect the number to go up quickly because alot of stores are just now accepting pre-orders for the bundles in america.

I predict MGS4 will still sell over 1 million units worldwide in the first week, which is a bad number for the series, but a good number when looking at the low installed base.
