that number reported by sony is shipped not sold
The funny thing is... the professionals think VGchartz is overtracking PS3... if last months NPD has anything to say bout it.

if they're undertracking the PS3, then maybe they're undertracking the rest. If they're undertracking the rest, then maybe it's by the same percentage as the PS3, and if it's the same percentage, then it's the same as if they aren't undertracking, and they probably aren't. nothings perfect, but sometimes, things are equally imperfect.
Yeah well, someone on /. yesterday quoted nexgenwars (sorry, I said it) and they have it at 9.65m currently and you thing vgchartz has undertracked.
| mr_gappy said: sony relesead there q4 earnings about a week ago and it stated than sony had sold 12.85 million ps3's by the end of march 2007 now despite this vgchartz at present for week ending 17th of may at 12.63 million now with high sales in others and high sales from the gta 4 week it seems to me the ps3 numbers should be closer to 14 million |
BWAHAHAHA!!
Shipped not sold
are you implying 1.37 million PS3s sold in GTA week?? It was somewhere below to 0.37
I think the PS3 is undertraked however to what % I have no idea as I don't actualy have the real numbers but there is information that has indicated to me that Vgchartz may not be tracking the PS3 as accuratley as it's really performing.
Wow, I am impressed.
only the OP and 1 other person didn't know what they were talking about in this thread.
Perhaps soon we won't have to have the weekly "shipped vs. sold" argument.
edit... damnit Imperial, you had to say something didn't you, now that means 2 other people don't know what they are talking about.

Well, I saw something interesting this weekend. I went to Wal-Mart with my brother and he was ready to jump to the PS3 and get that. So we went there, and they only had 2 systems (40 gb) left and we picked up one and another guy picked up the other. However, they didn't have any new games able to be purchased as they were all sold out. The only games they had were older and pretty much crappy games left in stock. (They did have 2 copies of burnout paradise though, and my brother picked up that one.)
Keep in mind this was at 11pm on a Saturday night, so I have a feeling that VGchartz may be undertracking the sales of the PS3 just from what I have seen. Seeing how a huge retailer like Wal Mart in a city that really is feeling the economic pinch was out of stock of many games and systems (after my brother bought one) I have a feeling there is a undertracking of the PS3 and the games.
