Yeah, that's why Nintendo has no games at the top of the all time rankings
Some people on this board just have to get it through their thick skulls that there is no anti-Nintendo conspiracy to rate their games poorly and rate games made by other companies (ahem, GTAIV) extraordinarily high to make Nintendo look bad. The gaming world doesn't revolve around Nintendo-bashing! |
Seriously, the conspiracy part was NOT implied by the post you replied to. Bringing that up, with no promting, just looks like you're trying to strawman this. If you want to prove MK Wii reviews were fair, then don't adress point that are not being made.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs
you will find many games on wii are dumbed down in reviews.
its something you have to put up with, i havent played MKart but seen it being played at my local argos, and it looks brill, might pick that up sometime, do all copies of MKart come with the wheel ot is that a special edition?
...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...
PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk
really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...
I can definitely see why this game didn't get great reviews. I was easily beating my friend who owns Double Dash, MarioKart DS and MarioKart Wii and played them all fairly heavily. He used to absolutely destroy me in Double Dash, but in MarioKart Wii, I end up winning over half the time. Pretty funny to me, incredibly frustrating to him. I think the game is a lot more accessible to new players, although I'm not sure yet if it comes at a cost of "random" wins.

You can still do co-op grand prix, but can't unlock anything that way. But yeah, the battle mode's pretty lame this time around.
Either way, best racer on the Wii so far. They tested the waters with the new controls with Excite Truck. Then they pumped it up with online, Miis, and a wheel for Mario Kart. Step 3: F-Zero Wii.

If you're getting random wins, your friend is just about as good as you. Maybe he lost his edge. The game might feel easy for the nubs, but you can definitely recognize a pro, who will mop your ass all over the internet. It happens to me all the time. I'll either beat somebody 5 times in a row or get smoked 5 times in a row. We can definitely tell who's better afterwards.
Nintendo didn't send the reviewers enough swag.
I'm still trying to decide if the inclusion of Miis is enough to counteract the exclusion of non-team Battle mode--Battle is what always keeps me coming back to MK.
The game is actually easier than the other Mario Kart but you can definitely see who's better. It's only in the really short and easy races than you can get random wins/losses because items have a bigger impact.
How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...
