Forums - Gaming - Dissapointments of this generation

I didn't think Blue Dragon was disappointing because I still enjoyed it alot, but it could have been better. Lost Odyssey was more of a disappointment to me. Folklore? Come on... thats a good game. I also LOVED DMC4, so don't agree there. I do agree with Assassin's Creed though, that game was mediocre in many aspects.

Res Steel for me. I still think people give that game a bit too much crap, but still, it had so much potential. Probably needed quite a few more months of dev time before shipping.

UT3 should replace Kane and Lynch (no one should have expected that to be good), otherwise it's a good list.

I'm shocked, shocked, that here on vgchartz forums people are saying the only Wii game (out of ten games) on the list doesn't deserve to be there.

Why don't you folks actually suggest 3-4 disappointing Wii games that are more deserving than Mario Kart?

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Dissapointments of this generation is.... Xbox360 ROD and Haze.

It's more along the lines of the fact that Wii games expected to be good, usually are.  The majority of the rest aren't really expected to be good.  The hype machine has a fair bit more steam on the PS360 side.

My biggest disappointment for Wii games was Zack & Wiki though.  From the amount of praise I'd heard, that game did not live up to my expectations.

I'm sure most people are going to disagree with me, but out of the games I've bought, the only disappointment has been Brawl.  I fell for the hype, and just didn't find it all that fun compared to the N64 version.

I don't have that massive of a list of disappointment this generation. So far MY only disappointments would be.

Haze. I love you to death Free Radical xD Use some SPE's next time >_>

Super Mario Galaxy. STFU people the game played fine, I just figured Nintendo's be all end all game that basically represents Nintendo as a whole would have better implementation of motion control ;/ It was a disappointment to me in that regard.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl. They dumbed down my characters >
TUROK. YOU COULD HAVE BEEN AMAZING GOD DAMNIT >
Orange Box, DREAM TEAM OF GAMES EA, HOW THE HELL DID YOU MANAGE TO F*CK UP THE PORTING >

I think part of the annoyance for Wii fans is that there was no real build up towards Mario Kart so its kind of hard to be disapointed of it ...

In my opinion, a game like Grand Theft Auto 4 would feel like more of a disapointment for a lot of people because Grand Theft Auto 4 was announced over 2 years before it was released and it was hyped the entire time; in contrast Mario Kart Wii was announced and released within 6 months with little information (really) being released about it.

And lost odyssey? It's the first JRPG to do decent numbers on the Xbox 360 in the West? Not to mention it has certainly been profitable given its numbers.

Which numbers?

It's sold 660k, how do you deduce profitability from that?

The revenue is 39.6 million.

Well we generally consider that an HD game needs to sell half a million to be profitable.  This game has sold considerably more, and was built with the Unreal Engine 3...............meaning it was 'relatively' cheap.

Linky?

I thought that was entirely false...

A game can generate 30 million in revenue and be profitable?

Pro evolution soccer 2008 ps3

What were konami thinking releasing a half finished piece of crap with an awful frame rate and comically abysmal online mode!?!?

The first fully next gen pro evo title and they mucked it up big time.

Lair wasnt a huge letdown for me as i had no knowledge of its pre-release hype, but because it was rubbish it was still a letdown in the end :@

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD
