Forums - Gaming - Do you expect the 'Wiimote' to COMPLETELY replace traditional controllers..

...Over the next decade?

Just like the NES´ D pad replaced the known joystiq, and the SNES controller improved it...do you expect 'Wiimotes' (not only from Nintendo, but from Sony and MS as well) to become the new standard and make traditional controllers obsolete?

Nope, I see both types of controllers co-existing side by side.

You can still get joysticks..I would have one if they made any games that actually used them but thats a Rant for a different thread :)

No, does the wiimote add that much to every game? I still want my traditional games, because that is how I play games. Also, could you tell me how you can steer a car, and aim to shoot at the same time?

Good Lord I Hope not !

I see every console going with some sort of motion control and IR functionality but I doubt it will be in the form of a remote control set up like the Wii.

The next gen will see a blending of the two controllers that will combine the IR and motions with double joysticks.

@munkeh you map the car's steering to the nunchuck's joystick and the shooting to the IR.

Very simple.  Steer with the nunchuk analog stick and aim with the wiimote IR.  That's the problem with people hating on motion controls.  They think it needs to be forced into every game.  There are plenty of games on the Wii that don't abuse the 'waggle'.

Personally I don't care if the motion controls get added to all controllers but I think the IR for aiming in shooters is huge and should be seriously considered.

No, motion controllers are cool and all but are a hassle to play certain games. For example RE4 is better with a standard controller then the Wiimote. Games that are platformers are better with a standard controller.

Now Playing: Crysis 2

I want to shoot behind me

No, although I do think that basic motion sensing and wireless controllers will become the standard.
