Forums - Gaming - Game Informer Is Pretty Damn Stupid

Where the hell are you guys getting your review scores???

Bioshock and Call of Duty 4 both got perfect 10's.

Also, just because GI gave a bunch of top of the line Nintendo software titles AAA scores doesn't mean they aren't biased as hell against third parties.

GI was as good as dead to me after they gave Paper Mario TTYD a 6.5 because it was "teh kiddiez".

I would say that was the last straw for me concerning GI, but I had already realized their reviews were crap. I seriously quit them before that, the PM2 review just made it even more justified.

For what it's worth, the "co-op antics" did add a lot to Double Dash if two people were controlling the same kart. This also allowed a 4-player Grand Prix, which was awesome.

That isn't to say that Game Informer isn't stupid or anything. I've never actually read it, myself.

For me, it wasn't the actual score itself but the fact the reviewer himself, Jeremy Zoss, actually liked the game but was told to score it in the eyes of the hardcore M audience crowd.

TalonMan, Gamestop used to push Xbox/PS2 software/hardware over Nintendo products almost to eh point it was company policy.  I bought a GC game once and the store clerk was trying to get me to buy a PS2 game.

I recall many that worked for Gamestop (not sure if this is still policy) stating they had to put PS2/Xbox on a higher sales priority because of their limited store shelf space designand profitablity.   In fact, it was Gamespot who perpetuated the idea that Nintendo intentionally withholds stock from retailers to generate false demand.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Still a bunch of nintendo fan boys complaining..

^^ Hey thanks for contributing so much to this discussion Everstar, can you maybe be a little more insulting and pointless in your reply next time, I didn't quite feel the full effect of your mindless quip that time...

OT:

Sort of a funny story on how I came upon my subscription to GI. The year was 19diggerydoo and I was selling some games to relieve the financial burden Smash Brothers Brawl was going to put on my already taxed wallet. So, after ringing me up, the clerk (played by a young Dennis Franz), asks me if I would like to sign up for the Edge program. Being an intelligent and mature individual, I tell him "Hells no". He states that with the games I am selling the cost would only be $1 out of pocket for both Brawl and the Edge card (and the forced GI mags), I still say no, as I needed that dollar for more important things, like losing to a vending machine, or burning outright... He then tells me that he had just ran the numbers, and I could get the game, the card, and the mags all for free, AND still have $5 left over. I again told him no. Then he looked sad. So I relented and signed up for the card. I've regretted it every day since then...

Learn from my mistakes. Don't be a fool like I was in my youth! Now let Grandpa get some sleep, for the weariness has taken him.

Wha? How am I a Nintendo fanboy since I say Game Informer is crap?

Oh, NOW I see. I don't complain about the PS360's reviews and say they should be better. Maybe since I don't HAVE a PS360, I can't bring my opinion to the table. If I complained with no knowledge, that would be fanboyism.

But hey, enjoy wallowing in your filth-infested bubble, shutting out all negativity and only bringing the pro-PS360 news.

Also, I did not say ONE thing about bias in the OP (except for that "..." incident, while it is true, you can't deny it was presented in a fanboyish matter). So, your lack of reading comprehension has pretty much confirmed to me you are pretty much a defensive fanboy.

I dislike GI because I think they are FAR too easy on a lot of games.

They gave Spiderman 3 an 8!

Well, I have a Game Informer subscription - it makes good toilet material, that's about it. My wife got it for me a few years ago because she thought I'd like it, I never had the heart to tell her what a bunch of ass turds they are (did anyone catch the editor's column a few months ago where he had the audacity to wonder aloud why ANYONE could possibly think reviewers would tilt a review based on a publisher's whim?!?!?!? LOL!!!!!!)

Anyway, my question is this - doesn't Game Informer = GameStop??? And if so, why would GameStop have any interest in picking apart ANY of the manufacturers (least of all, the one that's currently selling the most)? Not that I'm saying that they aren't - I just don't understand their motive. Are MS and Sony paying better incentives to them? Is Nintendo treating GameStop differently than other retail stores??? Just curious...

Yeah, Game Informer = GameStop. I first found out about when I had become friends with a GameStop manager years ago. We were joking around about his store/company and he mentioned how GI was basically free. I think I said something smart like "That's still too much". But he went on questioning me about why I didn't like the mag. One of the things I mentioned was how soft the reviews were on many games, he then told me it was GameStop's own magazine.

Since then I've read many times from other sources that GI is owned by them. Really pathetic if you ask me.
