^ Most core reviewers says otherwise in Wii Sports and Wii Play though, I even heard in gametrailers that Wii Sports have Nintendo 64 graphics.

that was at wiis launch, gaming websites have matured a lot since then to the concept of casual gaming.. but i don't think they are quite there yet (despite this particular 8 score being pretty fair)

If you think that then its like reviewing Mario and Sonic and Carniival games and also give it a 8 even its only a collection of mini games. Core reviewers will have a hard time reviewing casual titles...

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

I think, given the nature of the game and the purpose of the simplistic graphics, a 5 for graphics is incredibly unfair. Additionally, the presentation score was docked for graphical "bells and whistles" not existing, as well.

The rest seemed fair enough.

I agree that reviewing this is not easy. Its like a race car driver reviewing a family sedan.

They should have gotten a fitness expert to review it...as most gamers will break a sweat by just dipping their nachos in salsa.

This is where I will get flamed, but they should not have reviewed it at all, or reviewed the balance board as a game device.

If you want a fitness expert to review it, go to a fitness site. Most all of them have reviews on WiiFit.

Have they changed of heart?

7.0 Presentation
A robust list of exercises and mini-games, easy to navigate menus, and on-screen instructors. Clings to misleading BMI and lacks bells and whistles where graphics and audio are concerned.
5.0 Graphics
Simple. Basic. Will not seem daunting to newcomers. There's polish to the graphics, but they also border on the generic side.
6.0 Sound
Crisp, clean voice commands from on-screen instructors and the music is fitting. The instructions, though, are repeated too often.
8.0 Gameplay
Great fun and a great workout at the same time. Not at all gimmicky. You will feel the burn and wake up sore the next morning.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
More than 40 different challenges and, like any exercise program, you will keep coming back, again and again.

So, did you read the review? Or just the scores? Because its pretty well laid out why it got what it did.

If you didnt read the review, may I suggest never posting on an internet forum again until you learn to get all your facts lined up before hand?

I posted only the scores because its too long to post the 2 pages of it, and I post what i post because its unlikely for core reviewers  score a casual game an 8. Its like this, do you want carnival games to score an 8? Most people who buy and play the game says its fun but core gamers says otherwise, core gamers even dont like carnival games to be in a million seller mark. And yeah, I think Wii fit is fun since Wii Sports is also fun, but like I said this are core reviewers we're talking about.

Come on guys let's not exaggerate. 8.0 is a very good rating and under the number it writes "Impressive".

I own Wii Fit and I love it. 8.0 looks like a fine rating to me because there is space for better.

hehe...I don't know man, IGN reviews Uwe Boll movies because they are relatd to games. Anything coming form nintendo will be reviewed there...even if its a coffee mug.

LOL Miyamoto himself disagrees with both of you.

This isn't a surprise to me at all. It's a decent rating , but it really deserves better. Even though I expected it right from the moment I heard about Wii Fit, I still feel this type of reviewing is unprofessional. There needs to be a separate rating system and set of reviewers for casual games and concept games, then the 1 that's in place for hardcore games. As it is, the review process for hardcore games has needed a serious overhaul for quite some time now.

At disolitude:

That's a horrible analogy.

race car driver = great driver ,  hardcore gaming critic typically = in bad shape , bad at sports , and lack of knowledge and dislike of fitness ( I hate to stereotype here, but it's so true )

I know you're saying that under the guise, that wii fit has a different set of features than what most game critics are used to , but that line borders on trolling , because it sounds like you're subtly implying that critics are used to exotic performance and Wii Fit is the Caravan of gaming, purposeful , but void of fun. I have a feeling a lot of people will have plenty of fun with wii fit and will feel quite rewarded by it , in a way normal gaming simply couldn't do.

i'm not sure what you are saying.. but i didn't claim all casual games (or minigame games) should get an 8 out of 10, just that they are learning to score games based on their target.. and i even said that they haven't quite gotten there yet, but its a big improvement since launch of the wii

That said, as you probably (or actually, quite possibly not) know, wii fit is more than a collection of minigames, so i'm not surprised its scoring more than carnival games, for example

I think they have to take back what they reviewed on carnival games then:

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/wii/carnivalgames?q=carnival%20games

critic reviews: 56
