Wii Force Unleashed tech 'like no game before it'
Producer says game is running in 640 x 480 resolution.
The Wii version of upcoming Star Wars game The Force Unleashed is, from a technical stand point, pushing Nintendo's console "like no game before it".
The claim comes from Dan Wasson, producer on the Wii, PS2, PSP and Nintendo DS versions of the game, which will also be coming out on Xbox 360 and PS3.
While the next-gen versions of the game use elaborate technology, including Digital Molecular Matter and Euphoria, to create realistic physics, the Wii version has been built with its own physics engine and includes an exclusive multiplayer head-to-head Duel Mode.
Wasson told VideoGamer.com at the game's recent hands-on event in London: "From the beginning we knew that the next-gen version had Euphoria and we couldn't do that. So we built a physics engine from the beginning to get a lot of objects on the screen and make them be able to fly really fast, which is always tough.
"The Force Unleashed is so fast and it moves so quick that it presents a lot of challenges. The game's running 640 x 480 on the Wii, which is a little bit better resolution than other games which are 640 x 400. It looks really crisp, the aspect ratio, the textures scale appropriately, there's real time light from shadows."
He added: "This is our first game on the Wii with these guys so we feel there's more to come."

Poor PS3 Sales Means Smaller Losses
"Actually, because the number of units sold was not as high as we hoped, the loss was better than our original expectation," Quotes from Sony’s CFO Nobuyuki Oneda.
