LucasArts really want you to buy Wii version of Star Wars like their Hotcake selling title Lego Star Wars.

Wii Force Unleashed tech 'like no game before it'

Producer says game is running in 640 x 480 resolution.

The Wii version of upcoming Star Wars game The Force Unleashed is, from a technical stand point, pushing Nintendo's console "like no game before it".

The claim comes from Dan Wasson, producer on the Wii, PS2, PSP and Nintendo DS versions of the game, which will also be coming out on Xbox 360 and PS3.

While the next-gen versions of the game use elaborate technology, including Digital Molecular Matter and Euphoria, to create realistic physics, the Wii version has been built with its own physics engine and includes an exclusive multiplayer head-to-head Duel Mode.

Wasson told VideoGamer.com at the game's recent hands-on event in London: "From the beginning we knew that the next-gen version had Euphoria and we couldn't do that. So we built a physics engine from the beginning to get a lot of objects on the screen and make them be able to fly really fast, which is always tough.

"The Force Unleashed is so fast and it moves so quick that it presents a lot of challenges. The game's running 640 x 480 on the Wii, which is a little bit better resolution than other games which are 640 x 400. It looks really crisp, the aspect ratio, the textures scale appropriately, there's real time light from shadows."

He added: "This is our first game on the Wii with these guys so we feel there's more to come."

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is due out for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PSP and Nintendo DS on 19 September 2008.

Poor PS3 Sales Means Smaller Losses

"Actually, because the number of units sold was not as high as we hoped, the loss was better than our original expectation," Quotes from Sony’s CFO Nobuyuki Oneda.

So this means it has 307K pixels compared to 256K? 1/5 more pixels can't be bad.

What do they say about movie tie games....

That said, it is on my watch list...

Obviously the 360 and PS3 versions of the game will act as LucasArts' flagships... but that doesn't stop the Wii version looking like a good bet and a decent laugh with mates

there's real time light from shadows.

Does that make sense to anyone?

i will buy one for the 360 and one for the wii

Of course a Star Wars game on the Wii will sell. I mean look at Lego Star Wars haha. This is what the hardcore base has been wanting for a long time now. I have a feeling it'll pull a Guitar Hero on Wii. Not open as big as the other versions but have huge legs like GH3.

I know I'm buying it day one. I really could care less that I could get it on 360 and have better physics and graphics. That excitement will last me all but one glance.

I'll be getting it on the Wii, but I'll probably wait for Christmas, or so.

Offtopic (sorry about that but I had to)

307K means 307.000 pixels? And if yes, what does the K letter after the number stand for?

wii number: 8166 7045 0170 7783 (don't forget to inform me if you add me)

It's an abbreviation for a thousand

OT: I'm not sure if I'll get this for my Wii, or for my 360. Slightly leaning towards the 360 version right now, but not sure
