Forums - Gaming - 360's 2008 lineup better than PS3's?

erm i think ps3 has a better list of games for 2008 even though there has been a number of delays, however the ps3 as widest range of games from fun creative, simple, beautiful games like little big planet, buzz tv, and singstar volume 2. it also has must have action packed games like resitance 2, motostorm pacfic rift, haze, metal gear solid 4, socom confrontation, infamous and im hoping white knight story and final fantasy see at least a release in japan this year. The 360 on the other hand offers only really one genre of game and thats action with gears of war 2( no doubt about it will be great) and halo wars, and fable 2( maybe not action but wont appeal to a wide audiance)

360 has a wide range too. (of the ones i'm most interested in)

"Fun, creative, simple, beautiful"= Viva Pinanta 2, Banjo 3.

Action packed: Gears 2, Ninja Gaiden 2,

Adventure= Fable 2.

games i want

PS3: MGS4, LBP, D3, VK

360: NG2, ToV, GoW2, VP2, BK:N&B, IU, TH, F2

Multiplatform: LR

Just like last year, the REALLY big games will either be:

1/ HD non-exclusives (next CoD, GH, god knows what else...). RE5 anyone?

2/ Exclusive Wii titles

Its a pattern everyone is going to have to get used to.

...

Apart from that, GoW will do really well on the 360 - and Resistance II will do well on the PS3. Will either outsell the prequel? We'll find out.

GoW I has sold around 5m units now. Resistance has sold 2.8m. CoD has outsold both (on same respective platform), and has almost 9m cumulative sales to date. It has also only been out for a fraction of the time.

LBP is a real unknown though. Will the Japanese like it? Will it sell systems? Will the "hardcore" PS3 fanbase buy into it? (the owners that buy a PS3 for GT, GTA & FF).

Banjo 3 is also a real unknown. How will the shooter crowd respond? Will more old Ninty fans be converted? Rare's games have done pretty badly on the 360 to date.

NO! Firstly, Alan Wake, Halo Wars and maybe Splinter Cell have been pushed back into 2009. That's a pretty big blow to the 360's lineup.
Secondly, the PS3 has a lot of heavy-hitters- if 1 or 2 of them get pushed into next year, that doesn't necessarily stop 2008 from being the PS3's year. How can you expect all of it's big games to arrive in 1 year?

Also, you missed out Tekken 6, SOCOM: Confrontation and Motorstorm 2 along with lower-tier games such as Wipeout HD, Haze, Siren, Linger in Shadows, Disgaea 3 and Valkyria Chronicles. 8 Days and WKC could still arrive this year.

Anyway, we should wait until E3 is over before we start talking about this.

WHOA!!!! When did Halo Wars get pushed back?

You just included things like PSN games, online-only games and sequels to mediocre launch titles in your so-called heavy-hitter line-up.

Tekken 6 will be big, but lets not pretend the franchise has the quality or sales luster it used too. Disgaea and Valkyria chronicles wont hold a candle to Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of Vesperia and Lost Odyssey.

Halo Wars wasn't shown at MS's event last week and it's probably been delayed to 2009 along with Alan Wait:

SOCOM is online-only but it has a huge fanbase, nearly every PS3 owner I speak to is hyping this. Could be a system seller. And Motorstorm is hardly mediocre, it got 83% at GameRankings and is the biggest selling PS3 game (after GTA4 I think).

As for Tekken 6- IT WILL KICK ASS! I think Tekken 5 is the best yet, number 6 is a "heavy-hitter" as far as I'm concerned. Do not speak ill of Tekken!!!!!

As for the bolded part- I can't argue because I don't really know much about any of them. But I don't know why you think Disgaea 3 and V.C."won't hold a candle" to the other 3.

You say SOCOM will be a system seller because people that own PS3's are highly anticipating it? Doesn't that mean it will sell to the existing fanbase!? Also Motorstorm should be a big seller after being bundled with the PS3 for so long.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

I'll wait for E3. There must be at least 1 big exclusive for each console that's coming this year but little is known about it.

No. Only Alan wake got pushed back into 2009. Splinter Cell is set for October and there's been nothing saying Halo Wars won't make this year. That card can be played both ways, because Heavy Rain, Afrika, Yakuza, White Knight Chonicles, The Agency and inFamous all look like they can easily slip into next year. We should look at each list as they stand currently, and not with the speculation that certain games MIGHT not make this year.

You're right, Splinter Cell is indeed coming out in October, according to IGN at least. I hope it does, I've been waiting FOREVER for this game. But it looks like Halo Wars is a 2009 title, I just don't think it's official yet.

As for the bolded titles- I didn't include them because they could indeed slip to 2009. But I think WKC is currently set for 2008.

Heh, I did say that, what a silly blunder. But really, I think a lot of the SOCOM fanbase will buy a PS3 when this new one is released, the PS2 versions are still being played online to this day.

As for Motorstorm- yes it was bundled, but hasn't it sold over 3 million? I see the sequel being very successful indeed.

ROFLOL...it's all about preference, imho. I'm a 360 guy, so yeah, 360 always had the better line-up, but I'm sure the ps3 boys (and gals) will beg to differ.

I'll wait till E3 but at the moment PS3 has a slight lead...

2) Tekken 3 is considered the best fighting game of all time. It is unfair to hold other Tekken's to that standard of quality, because it is pretty much unachievable. Even so, every Tekken is a quality game, and Tekken 5 sold 1.5M. Plus Tekken: DR is one of the best selling PSN games, even at a high price tag of £14.99.

By who is Tekken 3 considered to be the best fighting game of all time? By Tekken fans? All fighting games are ultimately judged by two critereas(minus Smash Bros.), if it's 2D it is judged by the standards of Street Fighter II and if it's 3D it's still judged by Street Fighter II, but also Virtua Fighter. There are no other best fighters under consideration.
