The PS2 did not sell like it did simply because it was the PS2. It sold well because it put out AAA ip's throught it's entire lifespan. What big name IP's are you counting on to carry the Wii over the next few years? or are you counting on people to buy a Wii for games released in 2007 and 8 in 2010,11,12, qnd 13? I can name you ate leadt a dozen AA and triple AAA titles that will release over the next 3 or 4 years for the PS3. How many Wii titles in the same area can you name? GC sold 25 million units last gen, Nintendo stopped supporting GC. What do you think most GC supporters are playing today? thats right Wii. Sony is still supporting PS2. You guys are so seriously jumping the gun it's just laughable. |
I expect millions of people to buy Wii for Wii Sports and Wii Fit alone every year until a succesor to the console or one of the titles is released. The "casual"/non-gamer market is HUGE and with Wii selling faster than any video game device in the past there is obviously interest.
Your "support" arguement has no bearing on Wii/PS3 sales, though the fact that PS2 is still being supported does help[ Sony in this meaningless, yet interesting "race" between the two companies.
