Forums - Sony - will ff13 revive ps3?

it will give PS3 an "image"

like GT n Football gives it in EU

MGS, COD give it n 360 an image in Na

just like that FF13 will give a much needed IMAGE to Ps3....a slim and big game can do a lot {cough**DS lit & PSP slim**cough}

A slim console redesign could save the PS3, it still wouldn't beat the Wii, but it would sell like hotcakes, bundled with FFXIII.

Of course we're still years out from that, and it'll be too little too late.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Easy one, nop... the game could be good, great or awesome, but one game is not going to save the PS3...

 Well he hasn't said save but revive considering PSP was almost dead before and then raised to heaven....And what do you mean with save?

If PSP was dead then the PS3 is buried.

OT: No, one game can´t revive permanently one home console.

 Yups, that why the thread title says revive and not save.....If it is buried you know it is to late to save it =p.

The anticipated mass sales for Japan will likely happen due to a combination of factors. Cheaper slimline PS3 in combination with Final Fantasy games will IMO surely kickstart PS3 sales big time for Japan.

The PS3 is pretty much the only HD console for Japan and there are just so many anticipated demanding content coming for Japan, the PS3's future is pretty much secured.

It's a long race (and the PS3 is specced like that), slow sales the first couple of years until games like Final Fantasy and/or Dragon Quest games arrive was pretty much anticipated.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

@zenfolder

thats what I mean....we may see a point where after wii gets saturated PS3 take off..

The final fantasy series has ALWAYS repeat ALWAYS sold fantastically in Japan. Its not unreasonable to suggest FF13 will be a huge seller and boost the console. Theres no way this would take it past the Wii though, but then, that shouldnt be Sonys aim anymore

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Well, I certainly believe that. I believe we'll see a mirror of the PSP/DS war in Japan.

However, with the current PS3 sales levels it's hard to be very optimistic about the PS3 ever reaching current PSP numbers there, and even harder to see it ever outselling the Wii.

By the end of this gen, though, I do expect to see the PS3 see some "alright" numbers in Japan when the slimline hits, a lot of games are out, and the Wii is saturated.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

@zenfolder

definetely.....its as low as 7K

one might argue that why didn't GC take off after the saturation of PS2

well no slimline might have something to do with it..

so I would excpect it to not do a "PSP" but maybe do half of what its doing.

Depends what is meant by "revive".

I think (depending on what time of year it releases) it has a chance to put PS3 above Wii for a few weeks.

If it releases Sept-Nov time it should put PS3 above Wii, if Dec-June it might manage 1 week.

Here's the main problem, by the time Final Fantasy XIII comes out in Japan, (estimate - early to mid 2009) it won't make a difference because there won't be any big huge PS3 games coming for it again for a long time (xcept Versus XIII).

The reason I'm saying that is because the odds that another company has started production on a huge PS3 japan-centric game in the last year and are ridiculously slim.

The biggest games that the PS3 will get (that are japan oriented) are the games that started production before the system was released. I highly doubt that a studio would green-light a huge budget game for it at this point (unless it had guaranteed huge international sales)
