Forums - Sony - PSP vs GBC watch. I say the PSP can go the distance.

Wait a moment. You're comparing the PSP/PSP Slim and Lite to a single model of the Gameboy line?

The GBColor is still a Gameboy, albeit a hefty upgrade, but a Gameboy none the less.

You also have to consider the last few years sales dropping in anticipation of the GBA.

First of all, that is why I mentioned the GBC would have reached this number a lot faster.

Second, the GBC was only around for a few years, so how could sales have dropped off for almost its entire lifetime.

Third, sales didn't even drop off for the last few months. Nintendo said they GBA would have been released sooner, but the GBC sales were too high for that (since the CPU was needed to ensure BC on the system).

177k this week. Another week or so and it's at 35 million.

That's what the phrase "or so" means in that context.

I do have to admit the PSP is selling very well, but, keep in mind that the Gameboy Color played Gameboy color games. That's it. The PSP can go on the internet, listen to music, watch videos, steam radio, play games, play movies, etc.

It seems it won't be that much of a big accomplishment considering it can do way more then the Gameboy Color.

I'd be more surprised if it didn't outsell it.

What the hell? This was the same argument to why the PSP would crush the DS. It didn't happen then, and it isn't a reason the PSP would outsell the GBC.

The PSP will surely hit that mark...unless the PSP 2 is rushed out asap

My guess is after 2009. That would not only give a 5 year period (since a system would have to lose money to be cut short, like the Xbox and Saturn), but also mean that Sony is having a healthy profit margin from the PS3 by then.

Only 15.1 million to go.
