If you consider yourself hardcore then move along, there’s nothing for you here. We Ski will get mediocre reviews although GamesRadar gave it an 8. Typical of Wii games, reader scores are 9 and above. There is no great depth or complexity here, graphics are cartoony, music is best muted and there isn’t any online element.
So what do you get for $29.99. You get great skiing with what is quite possibly the best yet use of motion control. With a Wiimote in one hand and a nunchuck in the other you can in minutes start skiing and achieve in time a remarkable precision and subtlety of control with nary a button to mash. Most motions are controlled just by the way in which you lean and how you move your hands. Yep, leaning, this is no game for couch potatoes. It also is set to use the Wii balance board and the few reviewers who had tried it loved it. But even without the board the body leans feel natural and add a level of immersion to the game. Also fun is that you can use your Mii to provide the face on the skier. So set up a fan blowing over an ice cube tray and get ready to have a ball skiing with up to four friends (split screen).
The Good:
-great use of motion control
-use of body adds immersion
-big mountains you can roam at will
-cool night mode
-use of balance board
-four player competition
The Bad:
-so so visuals and music
-ski school moves slowly (but good for kids)
-unnecessary ski lift ride (can opt out)
-no online
