Forums - Gaming - Console order of price cuts? PS3, 360, PS2, Wii

What order will the consoles drop their price, when and by how much?

1. PS2  (I read a rumor they were dropping the price to $99 in 1st half 2008) -$30 in June or July

2. PS3: -$50 in September

3. 360:  -$50 in October

4. Wii:  -30? next year?

May as well put a question mark besides the Wii and the PS3. Both may not recieve a price cut this year.

Tease.

360 price cut would be more than $30. I would say another $50 price cut across all models in the US. It would only be the second $50 price cut in three years from US XBox 360 launch. PS3 would followMS  with a price cut.

Wii  price cut would be October 2009 at the earliest. I say $50 Wii price cut.

Yeah, $50 seems more likely. Any guess for when that would be?

For XBox 360 October/November 2008. PS3 would follow within a few weeks with a matching price cut. Lead in to Xmas 2008 where 30% of year's console sales are made in December alone. Second half of any year generates 70% of the year's console/software sales.

360 - $300 for the pro sometime Q4

PS3 - $350/450 in Q1 2009

Wii - Maybe by Q3/Q4 2009 it could be $225 or $200 if lucky

PS2 - $100 by year end.

The Wii is in no need of a price cut. One does not cut prices when demand remains unmet, and in spite of this grand illusion people have, demand does not drop off overnight (especially not for a disruptive product). Iwata stated in a press release about a month ago that there is no target date for a price cut on either the Wii or DS, as they wish to maintain the value image of the two systems. A reasonable stance, even from an outsider's viewpoint, for a system which remains perpetually out of stock in the majority of retail spaces.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

Actually, I would put the 360 price cut as August. Thats when the new Jasper chips will start to be sold. It gives plenty of time to build momentum with all the new games releases.

Tease.

I believe SONY cut PS3's price by $50 October and Microsoft will drop 360's price buy $70 - $100 somtime between september - november.
Why the large cut by Mircosoft? - its simple Micosoft shopuld have a new cheaper chipset then and will try to use the price drop to outsell PS3 by a reasonable amount during the holiday period.

Ah yeah, I forgot about that.

Soriku: PS2 is currently $129.
