Huh? This is the first I've heard of DMC 4 being bad. I have only heard positive feedback.

What the hell? Why is everyone suddenly hating DMC4? I thought it was a great game. It was better than all of the others in the series, too. What's with the hate?
DMC4 was not a bad game, not as good as DMC3, but (arguably) better than DMC1 and definitely better than DMC2.
Personally, I think Capcom are fine, it may be a while untill they have another break out AAA title that isn't from an established franchise, but so long as their series continue to produce good quality titles, I doubt many would care that they are not the best of the best.
@Godot: You forgot to mention except for castlevania as well (that series had a big return to form with the handhelds).
| aiden.cronus said: Yes, they need to bring RE5 to the Wii :) but then again, like someone said earlier, if they are going back like the originals, will it be a fall from grace when compared to RE4?? I have faith in capcom to not let this franchise burn like DMC4 |
Resident Evil 5 won't come to the Wii, they're already deep into production. It would have to be a completely different game.
I personally hope they don't consider a port as it will no doubt affect the PS360 versions.
Bwahaha... Capcom..... They're almost comparable to Namco Bandai sh!t. :S
All their people are probably putting their efforts to MH3 for the Wii. I really wished RE5 becomes a Wii exclusive. There goes Megaman fan wishes of getting a Megaman 2 like game again.

I'm pretty sure they have more people working on Resident Evil 5/Street Fighter 4.
I would say yes, they still have plenty of the right stuff. Despite losing so many of their best people, including some of my all-time favorite developers, they're still pumping out good games at an impressive rate.
Of course they used to be able to do much more than just good, and many of their games this gen suffer from less talented developers trying to emulate the brilliance of their predecessors. DMC4 is very entertaining, but feels like a reheating of the previous parts, and it's painfully obvious how the developers were too afraid to try and fix any of the faults of the franchise.
We know very little of RE5, but it looks like it's completely same in this regard. Capcom has a lot of competent people still working for them, and they're too smart to ruin their main franchises, but I'm honestly more interested in their new IPs, just because they won't suffer from frachiseitis.
Capcom are the best 3rd party so far this gen. Lost Planet, Dead Rising good new IP's. Res 5 if like the fourth could be spectacular. Number 4 was amazing just lacked a good story. Number 5 has Chris in, which means Wesker too so I'm very eager for this to arrive.
Street Fighter 4 I am unsure of. I firmly believe it should be in 2d. However unlike the previous 3d attempts this one fights very 2d (like watching 3rd strike) and everybody who has playtested say it could revive the rather stale beat em up genre. I agree
Ynwa.
RE5 is going to struggle enough as it is without the guidance of the talent they've lost, it would only make things worse by putting it on the Wii. Just wait for a port to Nintendo's next console.
@Ari Gold
That's perhaps one of the oddest arguments I've ever seen, Your optimism is perfectly fine and all, but to simply list a bunch of games not even out yet and claim Capcom is doing just fine is a bit of a stretch. It seems if they just slap nostalgia on the title you'll be onboard.
Like I said, Capcom is still making decent games, just not great games.
DMC4 was a dissapointment, like so many games released this generation, people love it at first, then over time the flaws slowly sink in. So many flaws and such a sloppy copy & paste job for the later half of the game. For all the money and resources they put into this game there is no reason it shouldn't have crushed DMC3. Pulling a Raiden was another cheap gimmick in the game too, really dissapointing to see them doing a MGS2.
I think its fair to say the days of DMC3, Okami, Viewtiful Joe and RE4 are long gone.
As much as I wish Capcom would put some games on the Wii (other than fucking Monster Hunter 3) I suppose there is no great loss one way or another.
