This is a build where they spent $500 total

You could probably upgrade the graphics to a 9600gt. For no charge too.

But this really shows what can happen when you overclock the shit out of a cheap processor.

Theres something fun about making a budget PC and tweaking everything you can out of it.

I kinda knew, my next purchase is 2 GB more RAM and a new GPU (prolly 4870 or something akin).

Yeah, ATI HD 4870!

I got my pentium dual core e2140 to overclock to 3.0ghz. These processors overclock so easily, and don't run too hot. I recommend it to anybody on a tight budget.

what would you say is the best graphics combo then?

Are they unlocked multipliers? Or do you just overclock the FSB. What makes them so easy?

I'm saying you could get it high easily, because they stay really cool. I use the FSB.

It is actually smarter to boost the GPU and CPU evenly. If you boost your CPU one step, boost the GPU one step. It prevents bottlenecks.

Also why get an 64 X2 4200+? Get a X2 4850e and be happy?

For what?

Some good general combos are - HD3870/50+Athlonx2, 9600gt with anything, 2*9600gt is the best value for SLI but you'd want a Core2 or AthlonX2-2.5ghz+ for that.

ill probably stick with Nvidia as ive allways used them in the past, and id want a combo that can run any games out this year at full spec ideally, CPU wise i dont hace any real preference between AMD or Intel.
