WII Fit bringing family together? You're kidding right? I've never seen the gym doing that. How dare people to think I don't know the definition of gaming, this is not gaming, this excercising entertainment. Its not like I visit the gym and say.. lets play a game! Its not like I'm standing on my yoga mat doing some stretching and say... I'm gaming! I never see my mom and dad doing WII Fit as they were almost pulking when they saw the Wii Fit commercial and said literally... translated: what's that for something stupid. I didn't have the heart to tell its from the very same company that created Mario Galaxy on the WII and oh boy they've never heard about Mario before but do they know now who he is.... And putting my grandma on the balance board is asking for breaking a hip or 2. Wii Fit is simply created as the media is so much nagging about the fact we have to care about our bodies, loose weight and look awesome. Wii Fit just happens to "fit" perfectly in the profile of the modern society, Ninty knows that.

What's your high score at the gym? I could sometime try to beat it.

i have been wrong about this generation since the beginning. I really never expected the wii to be such a force and non-games to sell so much. But seeing that now, i must admit that wiifit is a good thing because it will drive the other consoles to try differenttypes of games and forcing them move foward not just on graphics but gameplay as well.

I feel better now. I' m done with the accepting stage.

*Gives psrock a hug* you're one of us now, brother. Welcome to the gang. This is what advancement is all about, bringing new ideas into the industry and pushing other companies to work on improving the weaknesses of their games and not just their strengths.

With these two sentences Onna expresses exactly what I'm thinking about the recent WiiFit mass media coverage. I got the same bad feeling about Brain Training since a few months with all these beautiful and/or clever VIPs featured advertisements telling us to train our brains each day. I own Brain Training and it was fun for awhile but do I think that I'm smarter or even less forgetful than before? Not a second. But I think I need new glasses soon.

The advertisements and the media coverage are addressed to people's bad conscience and that's the problem I have with Nintendo's approach here.

But I think that all of you, the proponents and opponents of games/applications like WiiFit are taking this too seriously. In the end these games/applications are just another trend to supply a want that's one of the funniest and saddest things about us humans: Our neverending and hopeless search for perfection and immortality. It's as old as mankind.

Will WiiFit change the face of gaming? I don't think so, in my opinion it just broadens the games library and the diversity of distraction in modern, rich, bored society.

And Dearest Frank: Yet another thread about this bloody topic to teach us the greatness of Nintendo's strategy? As I said in another one of those what seemed to be 150 WiiFit threads: I'd never blame WiiFit, I blame Jane Fonda. (I still love Barefoot in the Park, Barbarella & Klute though). The 70s were the last decade where we were allowed to bear our miserable existences without being reminded of our faults every day. Then Reagan, Thatcher & Hasselhoff took over and the decline started.

Well usually successful products are born when there's a demand for them in the market. I also have both of the Brain Trainings and they are really fun games. Competing with my wife which one scores better is extremely fun. And the sudokus are a great way to pass time. And the games do improve your memory. You can notice it in a week or two.

I am. Although, it gets shadowed by Mario Kart and if you put yourself through a too hard exercise, you may want to skip a day or two. First time i did the exercises, my legs hurt 3-4 days. Even that i'm not in really good shape, i'm still not in that bad shape. It's just that keeping the COG where the board shows, when doing the workout, stresses the "supporting" muscles a lot more than they would stress otherwise.

Get the FUCK out of the way cinematic gaming age. Here comes the social gaming age.

Wait, what? How does Wii Fit help social gaming? You mean between families? I don't see anyone coming over to my place to exercise. Can 2 people even play at the same time? DDR is a better social game, too. It's cheaper and 2 player (at same time). Is there a mode for 2 boards? $180 for 2 players, though....

Not everyone can play DDR. I'm terrible at it and I get so frusterated when I try to do it.

WiiFit lookes way more fun than DDR and since the Balance Board will be used with other games, it's well worth the extra $40.

Yes I do I play about 45 - 60 mins pretty much everyday( about 5 times a week)

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

wow you must really be in shape by now then :P

Wii Fit brings the rest of the family to the Wii. You know, Wii is for EveryOne. See how that works?

Indeed.  Except you cut off my quote where I ask:  "You mean families?"  I don't see Wii Fit as a social game, though.  No one likes watching other people do exercise...except Tabsina's family.
