Let's get one thing straight before I begin - everyone on this forum should be a hardcore gamer. There are no two ways about it.

Because of this, it often suprises me that Nintendo fans enjoy seeing the PS360 consoles fall; consoles which are entirely tailored and aimed at the hardcore gaming audience. The success of the Wii will mean that all console developers will spend a lot more time and money on the casual gaming audience and where does that leave us?

From what I can see of this generation, gaming will cease to be a hardcore form of entertainment. We'll still have hardcore games in the future but they're likely to be lower budget and less innovative.

As far as I can see, our preferred form of entertainment will go down the shitter as it becomes less and less profitable to make hardcore games. The success of the HD consoles is extremely likely to be the deciding factor on what the state of gaming will be in the next gen.

Goodbye forever, VGChartz.  It was fun while it lasted.

I enjoy seeing the Wii and its core ideology succeed, but I have no desire for the PS3 or 360 to fail. They have a place in the new world order the same as Wii Fit and Wii Sports do.

PS - Why should everyone be a hardcore gamer and how does my not being a hardcore gamer and yet being one of the most active members of the community jive with your post?

You're right, because it's very innovative to put out FPS after FPS instead of trying new gaming ideas.

Seriously though, how do you see this being detrimental? Nintendo is forcing Third Parties to try new ways of doing things. I really don't see a down side to this.

I don't enjoy 360 / Ps3 failing (they really aren't) i do enjoy Nintendo having a successfully comeback showing games aren't about the number of polygons and texture resolutions.

Also it's my turn to throw some crap at the Playstation fanboys after over 10 years of them saying Sony was god.

Not really a downfall, since both the PS3 and 360 are doing well. So you can say just enjoying how well Nintendo worked from their strategy. Just like last generation when Sony was dominating. Wasnt a matter of the other two failing, just that Sony was doing so well.

Im more hardcore than super dense unripe avocados and I laugh manically every week the Wii is digging the graves for the damned HD consoles!!!

There are so many things wrong with your post. Wii's success hasn't hurt the sales of the big name HD games very much. The profitability of the HD games is in danger not because of Wii stealing sales, but because of 360/PS3 raising costs so much. If anything, the success of the Wii will save your precious "hardcore" games from all going bankrupt.

The hardcore/casual fallacy has blinded you.

Looks like people are moving on from denial to anger. I can't wait to see what the bargaining stage will bring forth.
