Why Marth but not Roy? I liked Roy 100x better than Marth...

Because Marth was in the first Fire Emblem game. Roy's Fire Emblem game actually came out AFTER Melee. So Roy was actually an ad.

Exactly, you need to learn to think like Sakurai. He respects video game characters with history above all else. Marth was the original FE character, and thus is the one with the most history. Roy was just the most recent. Ike, as the new most recent, is his replacement.

That sucks... all of the combos I loved so much will most likely be gone... I wanted to see Roy face off against Ike Or Marth too... Well, I think my Fave Character Will be a split between Ike, Sonic or Kirby... maybe even Snake, since Roy is most likely out of the picture. In Melee, my 2 favorite characters were Roy And Kirby. It always depended on who I was fighting

And maybe better announcements will be made (From The DOJO).
