Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Super Smash Bros. Brawl Official Updates

I actually think that Sakurai watches this topic and he won't show the Fox FS until the very end just to make I like Bacon mad. lol. I'm hoping for the AC character tonight since a lot of stuff has already been said about him, it would make sense to announce him this week.

That'd be hilarious if Sakurai's only job was to read forums and check how people like his game. Of course his brain would fry in the process...but cmon people, we all know Smash has been 100% complete for months hehe.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

As far as Smash's franchise size, it was the best selling GC game above every single title you mentioned as bigger except Mario Kart. Of course if you count handheld games then I think it goes Mario > Pokemon > Smash > others.

If you count handheldgames, Smash Melee is behind Nintendogs and Pokemon by a factor of 2, behind two different Mario and Brain Age games, and behind Animal Crossing. Smash might have been Nintendo's #2 franchise behind Pokemon 5 years ago, but things have changed.

Well, let me put it this way: It's unfair to rate smash below those handheld games when Smash doesn't have a DS incarnation. The DS boosted all of those much higher than they would be on any other system. As far as home platform IPs, Brain Age and Pokemon bombed on the Wii and although AC is big it's not Smash big. In the home console world Smash is still Nintendo's second biggest franchise.

It was those games that boosted DS, not vice versa. Hardware does not push software.

Brain Age isn't on Wii, and Pokemon is just an expansion pack for D/P.

And yes, AC is bigger than Smash. Check the sales. Brawl may give AC:WW a run for it's money, but that would only makes Smash AS BIG as AC.

The point is, Nintendo doesn't have to rely on Smash like MS relies on Halo.

Sorry Big Brain Academy is.  They are basically the same game though.  Either way in home console sales Smash has outsold everything except Mario Kart, including Animal Crossing.  I agree that they don't have to rely on Smash, but it's still a huge game for Nintendo.  The second biggest on the Wii in 2007 and one of the biggest in the Wii's lifetime.

I really do think he's watching me here and on GameFAQs. He knows I want Fox's FS! He knew that Tuesday was the 2nd day ever since the Brawl site began updating again in which I couldn't get on the computer in the morning. I really thought he would put it up on Tuesday. But NOOOO! Diddy's FS.

Which is ok I guess, Diddy will be my 2nd main.

And they should do a Smash bros with wifi on the DS! It's a guaranteed success! Something like the original Smash Bros is totally doable on a DS. Two screens, twice the action! Just without stylus controls though. It has to remain simple and fun.

There's a huge black hole in the market when it comes to handheld fighting games. I see no reason why Nintendo shouldn't do it.

They shouldn't because they should use every bit of manpower and ingenuity on SSBB. After that's out, they should definitely think about it though. I always thought that it would be a killer DS game.

Just kiss the tip.

I would really love an SSB game on the DS. It would be nice to see how that would play.

I have a craving for more gameplay footage.

I would love one of the updates to be just a video of a 3 life match or something...that would give me so much to hype about...so many little things to watch for...

Most normal games have a lot of gameplay footage by 3 months before release...but man is Nintendo secretive.

It'll come. Just wait. SSBB channell. it will be very nice. Plus, they will probably release SSB (n64) on the vc a couple weeks in advance. That would be swell of them lol!
