E3 2006: Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Wii's big brawler is full of surprises.
First details and screenshots inside!
May 10, 2006 (See that date?)
"Even better, the game will be fully online playable in addition to featuring a robust multiplayer mode. "My plan is to include Wi-Fi connection compatibility and online functionality. One of the primary reasons Super Smash Bros. Brawl was created was that Nintendo, when taking Wii online, wanted to have Smash Bros. to do that," added Sakurai."
Right there, months before the Wii even launched, online was confirmed. The details were not there, but Nintendo was evidently working on that.
Now this isn't the interview I mentioned about how Sakurai didn't feel that online isn't the best experience for this game*, but that wasn't telling us online was out. Nintendo never did that.
However, this was given at the same time Solid Snake was announced as a character, so people were evidently too excited by that news to notice the announcement of online.
So this recent news was not an announcement of online, but of the details.
*Now don't ask me for that link. I can't remember the key words to google it, and I can't even find the link in the message board where I found it, since that board has flushed its archives.

Congratulations, you found EXACTLY what I said he said. "My plan is to include Wi-Fi connection compatibility and online functionality"

That says nowhere that there is online multiplayer confirmed. All that says is that there is Wi-Fi functionality. That's exactly what I told you he said. I'm sorry you misinterpreted that, but unless you come up with a link where he says anything about online multiplayer, you're wrong. End of discussion.

Why does have have to use the words "online multiplayer"? If it was for anything other than that, he would have stated it would be for other functions, just as other wii games have been announced to have online, but in ways other than multiplayer. They explicitly tell you the online is for something other than multiplayer, when they aren't going to use online multiplayer.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

WHO CARES!?!?

This argument is STUPID! Who cares if on-line multiplayer was confirmed last year or not!? The important thing is is that it's confirmed now, so stop arguing and be happy!

fox final smash tonight. i hope so just to see what bacon will say.

Need people to play online with me for Brawl.
4382-1731-1511.

Name is DROAK.

We've been predicting Fox's FS for like... forever. I'm starting to think that Fox will not have one.

This is kinda pathetic, and I'm tired of this argument. Other games have used the term Wi-Fi functionality in the past like Metroid Prime 3 and Rune Factory. That doesn't mean they have multiplayer. That's the way you interpreted it, but there was a valid concern that this Wi-Fi functionality meant nothing but trading stats and trophies with friends or something similar.

Whether you believed it was online or not doesn't matter. Officially, there was never a confirmed online multiplayer, and they refused to acknowledge it every single time they were questioned about it in an interview. They would also have listed it with the online games at E3.  There were so many times that they were questioned about it that the fact that they never once responded in the affirmative makes it pretty obvious that they were unsure of whether it would work or not.  They obviously had a lot to work on before it worked and they were unwilling to give a confirmation until they were positive they could do it.

I'm not going to argue about this anymore.

I predict a stage

~Now Playing~
PC: Max Payne 3, World of Warcraft

X360: MW3, Skyrim

PS2: Persona 4

Last Purchase(s): Max Payne 3, WoW Game Time Next Purchase(s): None at the moment...

Gamertag: InfernoTrell

Sakurai is late again. Lazy bum lol

It's always so disappointing to wait till 12:00 only to find out that the update is late. Oh well. Here's hoping for a stage and a triple update, and some curly fries too; gotta have some curly fries.
