They'll be too busy eating their crow to say much after last month's fiasco. Though I do hope to hear more Wii Doomsday, there's not much they can say when Wii sold so much in the face of GTAIV and Mario Kart beat PS3 GTAIV. If they do decide to hate, it'd be fun to watch. |
I'll bite, Wii is not doomed but I will point out that its best selling titles are old franchises that were available on most Nintendo systems before it. Wii will sustain just like the Gamecube did. 1st party all the way. Until we start seeing some big 3rd party games in the top 20, developers will be dubious toward making big titles for the Wii. Wii is a phenominal seller, the best in gaming history, but 3rd parties still prefer 360/PS3. I don't see this changing anytime soon. Also, Wii has 2.5x the install base of the PS3 and MK barely outsold GTA4. |
You're trying to beat the bloggers to their Wii bashing, I see! But anyways, I can't understand how Nintendo gets so much criticism for selling old franchises (as if Wii Fit, Wii Sports, and Wii Play aren't new IPs) while Sony, Microsoft, and all major 3rd parties get a pass for doing the exact same thing. The big 3rd party games are on the way... I'm sure you've seen what Capcom (MH3), Konami (Castlevania Wii), and Namco (ToS2) have in store - and I'm willing to bet there are more good down the pipeline. And for GTAIV to be the mother of all "casual" games last gen, MK even barely outselling it is a huge success. |
Seriously why wii fans can't accept that just because something sells the most doesn't mean it is the best and cannot be critised in away is beyond me. Also the delusional view that nintendo isn't rolling out the same old franchises and some how microsoft and sony are is a joke. So far on the wii their have been ZERO new nintendo hardcore AAA or AA games released and the only new ip's that have sold well are a few casual games which are wii fit, wii sports and wii play. On the other hand you have sony who have released uncharted, resistance, warhawk, motorstorm, heavenly sword and microsoft who have released gears of war, mass effect, viva pinata, crackdown, kameo, lost odyssey and blue dragon.
