Forums - Sony - Developers praise PS3s superior power.

I thought this thread was started as a celebration, why has it turned so negative?

Honestly, are you trying to justify your purchase? I am so tired of seeing these type of posts. In every developer interview I have read, teams have said there are very minimal differences between the 360 and PS3. I have nothing against Sony or their console, and as soon as I see a reason to buy a PS3, I will get one. I am sure games will need to utilize Blue-Ray in the years to come, but as of NOW I have seen nothing that alludes to the PS3's "superior power."

And now that I think about it, only exclusives to Sony's console will utilize its "superior power". And from what the public has seen, those exclusives are dwindling.

I am NOT feeling the love

Factor 5 is owned by Sony. Konami, and Square Enix are making 30 million dollar games for the PS3, I wonder why they would want to hype it?

F5 is not owned by Sony.

yahh thats why Rockstar who is making the tiny litle game GTA4 was bitching about not all 360 having a hdd.

I'm not denying the power of the PS3 here, i'm sure it's more powerful than the 360 although we haven't really seen it yet. However, if you look at these developers they are all staking a hell of a lot of money in Sony and have something to gain by saying things like this.

They are huge succesful independant developers that dont need Sony to do well. They can pretty much say whatever they want, in no way can Sony punish them for it.

This is not really true ...

Often large publishers will have deals with console manufacturers to jointly advertize anticipated exclusive games; hypothetically speaking, Sony may devote $25,000,000 of its $500,000,000 PS3 promotion budget to advertizing MGS 4 as a PS3 exclusive game. This may not seem important, but few of the best selling third party games don't have this support.

Anyways, no one doubts that the PS3 is powerful ... In fact that is about the only really positive thing you can say about it.

sure sure.

So Sony would cut their ad budget forcing them to port the games to 360 ? yahh brilliant.

You are implying on games such as NFS Carbon, COD3 and such. That is becuase, these games were made for 360 and ported over to the PS3. The difference will be minimal, but doesnt mean it is fully utilizing the PS3 capabilities. Publishers(profits) would rather port their existing new game over than to re-create an over the top version.

Sony not paying for exclusives is the reason they lost them. Had sony paid for games like GTA and Devil may cry, they would still be exclusive. Those games went mulyi so the devs could make the money. Sony wanted to put all there money into the hardware and the first party titles first so they could show the devs what the console is capable of. The exclusive games will come back to the PS3 in the next 1 or 2. Bet on it.
