Forums - Nintendo - Do you think Nintendo will offer a low cost storage solution for Wii?

@Robert: I can transfer VC games perfectly fine... you just can't transfer them from there onto a different Wii than you downloaded them from.

OT: See the sig. Nintendo realizes they're sitting on a gold mine with WiiWare and the VC, and they don't want to stunt sales. A 10-gig hard drive for about $20 would be ideal, as VC and WiiWare games are never more than 43 megabytes. Hell, they may even sell GameCube games (since most are a max of 1.5 gbs) to compete with Xbox Originals and Playstation Classics.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

They will offer some form of storage, or else they're shooting themselves in the foot, skimping on all tech is not good and doubly so when Wiiware etc arrives.
Will it be cheap? No, console accessories rarely are I'm afraid.

@radioioRobert
You cannot copy VC games legaly..so you cannot take your VC games to your friends Wii..at least for now.
Because when you download a VC game the system inputs your Wii that you remove the game and and download again for free.

I don`t know if the strorage memory is going cost..That not the Ninty way..Hopeful some other solution..But the solution must be made haste..

More storage will come in a form of an attachment and it wil come equiped with HDMI output, 1 terabyte hard drive and bluray drive.

Actually it will be a ps3...

They'll release something eventually, but I don't think it'll be cheap. As nice as Nintendo is, they sure love making money...

You can save all VC games to an SD card but you cannot transfer all game saves. Some wii game saves (such as the 109 blocks Eledees game save) cannot be transfered as well.

The question is if the speed of reading a game directly from an SD card is enough. It took me 1 minute and 10 seconds to copy Sin & Punishment from the SD card to the Wii memory.

Is that a good thing, or a bad thing?

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

I can guarantee it will not be cheap.

I am guessing: $50 for a 4GB memory card or $100 for a 20GB add on hard drive.

They should allow HDD, but probably they are going for the SD path... what shame...

By me:

Maybe they will include a 4GB SD card with a low cost game (a la wii play and wiimote or Link's CT and the Wii gun peripheral).

I guess we have to wait until July...
