Here are some in game (not pre-rendered) screens from the game Crysis. They are put next to the photographs of the places they were designed to imitate. Can you figure out which one is real, and which one isn't?

I got all three... but it took me a bit. I definitely had to crop the pictures.

I got them right too...the first shot...you could see the trademark leaves on the trees, and the way the sky looked, the second pic on the left was just a little off to me, and the third pic had those easily destructible sheds, so I knew it had to be the game hehe. They look very good of course.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Got them all right too. You can just tell that the fake ones aren't real. However, the real ones, and fake ones, are very similar.

same...it i had to look at them for a bit to but I got them all right. I wonder what kind of hardware you need to run these smoothly

crappy old school NES games are more entertaining than next-gen games.

CPU: Dual-core CPU (Athlon X2/Pentium D)
Graphics: Nvidia 7800GTX/ATI X1800XT (SM 3.0) or DX10 equivalent
RAM: 1.5Gb
HDD: 6GB
Internet: 512k+ (128k+ upstream)
Optical Drive: DVD
Software: DX10 with Windows
Vista

The really noticeable piece here is the RAM -- I'd bet that recommendation is probably the reason why the PS3/360 can't run this game on full detail.

That's not that much RAM...most gamers today have at least a gig.

Right, it's not a lot of RAM for a comp, but it's a ton for a Console. Both the 360 and PS3 have excellent RAM (high clockspeed, unbuffered), but it's still only 512 MB.

Got them all right in less than 10 seconds overall. The last two were immediately obvious, as the vegetation looks horribly fake immediately. I needed less than 1 second for these two last photo. For the first one, the table before the house looked immediately fake, but I thought perhaps it was a trap. Then, it was so obvious, I said what the hell. I can't even think people that are wowed by HD graphics (I'm not) can't make them from reality, even with intentionnally small samples like here. Or perhaps it explains why they are wowed, if they can't tell them apart from reality (photos).

Right. We're all stupid, and you are incredibly smart. Congratulations.

LOL.

Yeah, they looked too similar for me to guess correctly... pretty awesome. I guess I'm just easily wowed.
